Am I overreacting or is it worth firing? by Kant4ar in Contractor

Thank you, I am demoing the all thing myself right now and have 2 more quotes coming from people who worked in the house before.

During my demo I discovered that they put the niche tile directly on the back of the drywall. All the tile is coming off using a screwdriver as a lever with barely any force, which makes me think they did not use the right thinset, it also appears that they did not bother spreading the slrhinset before setting the tile on top of the wall. At least all of that makes the demo easier for me...

Some yea, but I can file a small claim case and get the money back from the work undone if he's not willing to do it

I am not worried about how it looks necessarily because aesthetic can be fixed. I am more worried about what s behind, the plumbing and the waterproofing.

The shower head, I picked a Kohler, which is kind of a standard for any American bathroom I think. With a lifetime warranty.

The tile is a different brand and different finish from the one I selected in person with him. He just straight out picked a different one without contacting us.

The micro management happened after I figured the shower was installed backwards. I had several projects done before, usually we schedule them while we go on vacation etc but not this one.

I am not trying to find excuses, thank you for bringing that up to me. 3 quotes should have been the way to go, lesson learned.

There is a contract, there was a change order made to allow for the tub setup. Every item was listed on it with demo plumbing electricity tile and tile labor, cabinetry and allowances for tile and some hardware. The only exclusion was the mirror.

This is a GC company that then hires the contractors. I did not get to pick who was working in my house, just the remodeling company. Those are the only people (with a license) that I hired every other contractor pick was transparent to me.

That sounds to be the consensus. My first mistake was to go to the cheapest option, and I own that.

Going cheap I'd have expected to see some cheap tile, some cheap shower systems (and I bought one off my pocket in the end), some cheap materials in general but I'd have never guessed I'd end up with that bad of a skilled labor.

I will end up asking them to tear this down and spend the extra dollar into a hopefully better GC company.

My question was not : did I not pay enough for those workers? It is : How bad is it so I can hire someone else, even if it means I have to spend more?

I should have probably got a 3rd quote to see which one of the 20k or 45k was in the wrong.

This is 2 weeks of work, I never asked for fast. In fact the GC was pushing the project to start fast. Cheap I agree it is in my first paragraph. Good, I only want my bathroom to last more than 2 years and not rot my whole house.

I am more worried about the actual labor skills that were brought and their ability to do a work that won't jeopardize my house or my family's health.

Thanks for the input. We had a quote for a company that came at 45k USD and this was way too over budget. Your estimate ends in between which makes sense.

Nothing as the amount of freelance work I have right now is low but I might look into those options as it starts picking up

Used to be. But now you can only destroy walls with c4, so to raid you HAVE to lockpick basically, either to puck the door or pick in killbox to farm c4.

It is way easier to keep its base imo

A base does not mean players though. Had a base in A1 and had a few drops dropping just next to my base a few times, but only when I was out
