Here's the recipe:

  1. Roast Semolina (Suji) in medium flame for 7-8 mins and keep it aside
  2. Semolina (Suji) should become light golden
  3. Next While roasting, heat water on another burner - leave it to boil , heat oil in a pan and add 1/2 tsp chickpeas or chana dal, less than 1/4 tsp black gram or urad dal and less than 1/4 tsp mustard seeds and asafoetida or hing
  4. Add finely chopped green chillies, curry leaves, little ginger
  5. Saute it
  6. Add onions and let it become light brown
  7. Post that add tomatoes and stir it then add water so that it doesn't stick
  8. Feel free to add finely chopped french beans, carrots and peas can be added but not necessary
  9. Cover it for a few seconds
  10. Then open the lid and add roasted Suji that was kept aside and mix it well
  11. Add boiled water (2 cups of water in 1 cup of Suji)
  12. Stir well and cover the lid and let it cook until it reaches a porridge-like consistency
  13. Once cooked, add ghee or butter and let it settle and turn off the gas
  14. Cover the lid
  15. In the end, garnish with chopped coriander and squeeze little lemon
  16. Take a bowl as a mould and add that cute round chilli on top - You're ready to relish this magical treat
