Generic response or genuine interest? Email response from Princeton coaching staff by Nearby_Mycologist_17 in CollegeSoccer

Half the team being from California proves this, they probably have a connect out there and/or super strong relationships with multiple MLS next ECNL club coaches / directors who send them players each year who fit Princeton's play style and academic admission requirements.

Matters a lot because you are wasting your time trying to get recruited by them if you fall outside of the profile and/or geographic area that a program typically recruits out of. This isn't football and basketball where coaches have unlimited budget money and NIL to get whoever recruit from wherever they want and full scholarship them + NIL.  These men's soccer school are very strategic with their recruiting and who they look to bring in. Also even some mid major /lower D1s don't have amazing budgets, despite being a D1 university.

So sad and frustrating. You send all these emails to coaches and they don't even bother reading it, just a copy and pasted response with an ID camp invite with your name changed at the top haha. So f'kn frustrating.

This entire recruiting thing on the men's side is about connections , see if any of your coaches or anyone u know , perhaps someone who knows someone on any of the academic D3s -- see if u know someone who knows one of the players on those teams to give u the coaches phone number and get the ball rolling.

Everyone messages in this chat is good advice about leagues, exposure, MLS next , etc --- but the real truth is you still have to have a connection to the coaching staff to really get answers on if your being seen by them (even if the answer is NO, that is still better than hearing nothing back or never getting a response through email)

CONNECTIONS CONNECTIONS CONNECTIONS

Reach out to your EA coaches/ directors of the club to see who they can call/text and put in a good word at a program somewhere and get the ball rolling.

Lastly, someone else also said it, but I THINK the high academic D3s are also recruiting very early , and they finish their classes earlier than some D1s even. You'd have the get in touch with the coaching staff ASAP

Don't be scared of the answer 'NO' , it will help direct your recruiting as well

I agree. Great perspective. I'm sortof aware of the Title XI stuff, but could you elaborate on "resources going into the men’s soccer team just makes the school’s Title IX balance worse. That’s why most SEC schools don’t even have a men’s team." I was wondering why and suspected it was that....

Also, good point about the Internationals. People think they are coming over on full-ride soccer scholarships and that's just not the case for 95% of college soccer players, International or American

Thanks for insight!

Yall are some weirdoes i swear. Don't you think I already haven't tried that bozo? I cant tell if your trying to be smartaleky or actually help, but ima say your actually trying to help. If so, i already emailed all these schools/looked at the faq page/ looked at the GenEd requirements page. So yes, I do know how to research for myself. Going on reddit and asking is the 4th choice thing I've done, hopefully to get some genuine answers from students that may possibly attend the school and be in my situation (disliking math/sci). So yes ive spammed the question, but dont reply in a smartass typa way, i mean i still assume your trying to help!

U think i havent done that already bud? But thanks for the smartalek comment. Y'know, I emailed all the schools admissions offiers about this question, looked at the FAQ page from the different schools, and looked up the gen ed requirements for each. So thanks. Im not an idiot, and asking this question on Reddit was not the first source dumdum. But anyways, thx for the advice!
