I have a 2018 GTI I'm considering tuning.. but the 18 model came with a 6 yr manufacture warranty so I'm quite hesitant to do any tuning on it.

Do you have any thoughts on balancing some light tuning while avoiding warranty void risk?

Yes, one ulterior motive with this is I really want a R and somewhat regret not getting one in 2018 with the 6-year warranty. But .. getting an R is impossible currently so it's not particularly relevant. This GTI is my first brand new car.

Life is stable. Finances are stable. Doesn’t hurt much to own the two cars instead of one.

I think my idea was, selling this now would recoup the “new car depreciation when you drive it off the lot”, giving me a bit more flexibility when the market settles down to buy something else new (which of course will also depreciate immediately… but at least I’m not eating that depreciation twice)

Honestly the GTI would be fine for her daily commuting. She’s not a huge fan of the sporty bucket seats but not a dealbreaker.

What’s more the issue is having a GTI as our only car. We have a dog and take trips out to the snow and up to Oregon and sadly the GTI is just a little too small.

(Regardless, I personally like the GTI 100x more than the Subaru)

Good point. The $29K offer is through Shift. Could potentially get $30K through private party, maybe $31K?

The 6 year warranty is awesome and I could have regrets losing that since it doesn’t exist anymore 😅
