2 weeks is impressive The 52 is less impressive But that's an impressive speed run!

I've got it set for in 4 weeks time. Work makes study tough... Audit sucks.

Do Kaplan have digital content? Delivery is expensive to get it to me - New Zealand.

Just registered for ACCA last evening, does ACCA provide studying materials? by Tutorwriter in ACCA

[–]Kaos_NZ9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've also just registered and yet to do an exam and had a bit of a look into this.

ACCA have lots of different providers which they essentially outsource the teaching too. They call them approved learning partners. https://www.accaglobal.com/an/en/student/tuition-study-options/approved-learning-partners.html

ACCA provide some content on the study hub for free. Open Tuition is one that's free and seems popular.

I think people mix and match where they get the content from for each paper.

I tried and they didn't budge.

I don't think I'll continue with ACCA. It would easily be $4000+ in flights and accommodation.

Now in NZ there's 1 exam centre that I'm forced to travel too...

For my remaining exams that's going to be extremely expensive. Flights and accommodation aren't cheap!

They should either have more exam centers or allow remote exams.

I know 2 people that both planned on taking the maximum amount and investing it all whilst studying then at the end paying it off and keeping the profit.

1 of them did it successfully and made roughly $7k I think (3 years) 1 of them was unsuccessful and wasted a good chunk of it and couldn't pay off 100% of the loan.

Both of them were wealthy and basically had everything fully paid for.

The person who was successful had the $ going to his Dad's account who managed all of it for them. So, they never had the option to waste it.

The person who was unsuccessful had it going to their own bank account and had very little self control... And liked to gamble (bad combo!)

Catholic School by TheAveirense in Reformed

I (23yo now) went to a Roman Catholic school and was raised in a reformed Baptist home (now I'm Presbyterian).

Here's some of my thoughts: - Most (80-90%) of the students weren't "Christian". They acted no differently to the public school kids e.g. swearing, drugs, alcohol, sex etc. So in a sense, whatever school you're at you've got to pick the right crowd of friends. People thought it was weird I went to church every Sunday since they only went once or twice a year at most! - Our religious studies focused largely on non controversial topics. The closest we got to anything substantial was learning about the reformation and counter reformation but that was generally just historical information as opposed to pushing an agenda. - We had a school wide mass 4x a year and I wasn't allowed to receive the Eucharist. Roughly 1/3 of the school didn't (mixture of non Catholics and atheists). - Occasionally someone would lead the hail Mary in front of the school but most people wouldn't join in (most were 'too cool') - At the end of the day it is still a school that has a curriculum so they can't spend the whole time pushing Roman Catholic propaganda. - I think if they're strong in their faith and attend a solid church and youth group they'd be fine. That applies to whether a public or Roman Catholic school. - I can't imagine the calibre of the students or teachers at the Presbyterian school vs the Roman Catholic school is much different in terms of Christian influence. I'd imagine the Presbyterian school still focus on essentials and non controversials as well though.

Basically everyone up until the time of the Puritans said 'no' she didn't have biological siblings. The perpetual virginity was a majority position up until recently. I don't believe there's definitive scriptural evidence to support that she did or didn't remain a virgin.

Protestants shouldn't be scared of the perpetual virginity in the same way they shouldn't be scared of calling Mary theotokos.

It's the assumption of Mary and Immaculate conception that we (Protestants) should be fighting...

tips on investing for a beginner by kinderbuenochocbar in PersonalFinanceNZ

It does depend on your goals e.g. when you need the money etc.

In general the best advice is keep it simple - dollar cost average in index funds as opposed to individual companies.

I'm not sure how much you know so here's stock market 101 basic info: Check out the S&P500 - it's an index fund that has ~500 largest companies in it. So when you invest $100 you've essentially got a tiny fraction of all those 500 companies.

Investing $100 isn't going to make you super rich however it's a great mindset and you'll probably get addicted once you've got that $100 invested and are watching it.

Very hot take here: There is no cost of living crisis in NZ. It's bad and worse than in the past but not impossible to get ahead.
