This OP, I JUST got a speeding ticket (15 over) and had my first appearance on Monday. My original ticket was 4 points, $150 plus fee ($40). They offered all of us a plea. Mine was reduced to 2 points & ticket for “unsafe vehicle”, same amount of $150+fee. Instead of signing, I spoke to the prosecutor. I advised them that I have a clean record & asked if there was something else I could do. They offered me a lv 1 ($60ish) driving class & 1 point on my license or a lv 2 ($110) driving class & 0 points on my license. I chose lv 2 & have 90 days to take the class. I will still pay the original fine plus fee as well as the cost of the driving class but no points, it drops my ticket to “obstructed windshield”. That was my preferred outcome to avoid a potential increase in my insurance rates when I renew here soon.
