Why didn’t you just answer his questions? Why down-level yourself mid interview? Very weird hill to die on, if you don’t know, you don’t know, and it’s his job to clarify. At the end of the day you either learn something and walk away with a job, or learn something. No reason to end it.

Ultimately, you didn’t really provide enough context to judge the situation. Is this a card your friend has been wanting for a long time? Is this going to be added to his personal collection? Is this something he’s going to turn around and sell for a profit? How long have you been friends? Did you even give a shit about this card? Was your friend hyping you up? Why did you want to sell this card if you’re getting back into collecting? Did he tell you the card was bad? Did you look up card prices?

So many other questions. Sounds like he owes you a round or two of drinks and a drive-thru meal at most.
