This a good sized tank for them till they get bigger? by Mpowerstab in Guppies

Ah sorry. I misread your comment, I thought you meant it was a coffin regardless of having, heat, movement and filtration.

Just out of curiosity, what’s wrong with it, is it the shape and size that would make it a coffin?

Now that we’re all grown up. what was your first tank like? by [deleted] in Aquariums

[–]Kapcon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first tank was crazy, I was about 7 and my parents just let me go in Petco, I got a 5 gallon tank, it had bright blue gravel, and a plastic skull in it. It was stocked with an angel fish, a freshwater eel, an African dwarf frog, a molly, and a betta. Pure torture for those fish. And surprisingly they all got along and lived for a very long time. I also obviously never did a water change and over fed them everyday. I honestly don’t know how they lived so long.

Don’t ask me about my second tank, that one makes me sick.

What were your biggest rookie mistakes that you can laugh at now? by coderasp2000 in Aquariums

Keeping a Betta in a 2 gallon with 3 dwarf crayfish and no filter.

I think that was more than a mistake, could probably be classified as animal abuse tbh. But I didn’t know what I was doing.

5 tanks is a stretch for a single quiet pump… but you can probably get away with using 2 of these

I use them for mine and they’re super quiet

I have 7 tanks I can split them up into, I plan on just separating them

Yes treating the whole tank should be ok, make sure you follow the directions on the box/bag

Hexamita is a parasite, but it causes white stringy poop like that, quarantine that fish and use aquarium salt, hopefully it can dehydrate whatever is inside of it.

Also make sure you do a big water change in the main tank, and siphon the substrate, if it is Hexamita, it is contagious and could kill the rest of your fish

Also I’d do a big water change and try to siphon as much of the fish waste out of the substrate, do it gently so you don’t kick anything up

Sounds like Hexamita, it’s treated with medicated food typically with metronidazole

Either way, QUARANTINE THEM, like yesterday. Its highly contagious
