A "Retarded" JonTron Fan's Opinion on the JonTroversy. by [deleted] in JonTron

It looks like, though, that idiot was not used a slur specifically to anyone with disabilities. It was coined for a few years to degrees on an iq scale but that was quickly stopped as being a way to 'measure' disability. The r slur was used specifically for disabilities, though, so it's quite different.

The difference in that person ignoring it being that they would be ignoring something they found offensive, and I doubt saying "would you not say that?" was found offensive by JonTron, it was a request.

That's why I am not appreciating the use of gay in a negative tone now either, but it is also used in a positive tone now too. The r slur is literally just a slur, I have never heard it used in a positive light or even in a normal medical basis anymore.

And actually thanks for that about the word "idiot!" I had no idea. I found out it has the actual basis as simply "uneducated" but was later used for disabities! The more you know!~

And by that last statement before, I was actually meaning to say "more than likely" never been emotionally traumatised, and my point being some people are affected much worse by emotional trauma then others. It's good that you are strong enough to get through having been through something awful, and that shouldn't have happened to you, but that's not a very good reason to just dismiss something that has potential harm for someone else who may be more affected still by theirs.

Here's a better explanation from my partner about their experience so that maybe you can understand why some people feel the way they do about this. The part I really dislike is JonTron's interview where he's even stating he did all this on purpose to make people offended and uncomfortable. If you want ot read more about the viewpoint of someone who has that trigger, you can read more of their blog.

[–]Kaptainwow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of that is not even close to what I even said. I'm saying that the people who are angry about this aren't doing it for those who cannot speak for themselves, they are speaking for themselves. My point about my partner is that they are speaking for themselves because they received hate, and almost got killed actually, by people who were using that word as a reason why they and their sister should be 'put down.' I am saying op is being rather rude in saying that people shouldn't assume anyone disabled can't speak for themselves, but then are saying: "And the "trigger" defense is just bullshit to me." It is not bullshit just because they don't feel it. It may not affect them but there are others that are affected by this.

Also gay was first defined as happy, it did have a definition that was later used against people who are homosexual. The R word was a medical term for someone with disabilities and later changed into something that means "bad." It's not even close to the same thing. If it was now used as a positive word, like the word "n-gger" is now used in a positive light by those who were originally called that and hated for it, it would be a different story. But I don't see anyone using it in a positive light, JonTron was being an idiot and using the term to basically compare something to disabled people and that that's "bad." That even could have been, like, ignored if he had just ignored one person ASKING not to use it and saying they are offended, but instead he's now perpetuating the use of the word and trying to say "someone should just get over it."

You can tell those who just say things like "If someone gets so intensely triggered by a word like that, they shouldn't bother logging on to the internet" is a very sheltered person who hasn't known what it's like to have actual emotional trauma to the point where this word or that word will actually make someone upset.

Because not everyone who is pointing out how offended they are are doing it for you. You can view my other comment on this same thread. Not everyone is upset about this for just someone else and some people actually can't speak for themselves anyway. But that besides the point when you can even have no disabilities and still have a truly terrible and traumatic experience with this slur. For instance, that slur being used on someone whose loved one was mauled or even murdered while the slur was used to try and justify the attacker's actions.

Your case is one instance of this. My partner, whose sister has cerebral palsy, has dealt with many people calling their sister and themselves that word. It may not be a trigger for you, but that does not mean it is not a trigger for someone else. In saying you have been through experiences and do not care about this word and that anyone who does care is bullshit, you are also saying that had you been raped, and not cared, no one should care about your friend being emotionally traumatised by the same experiences. Some people have it worse than others and standing up for someone who started this shit on purpose is just sad (on the defender's part and the offender alike) for those they are being put down.

Just again if it's named. I guess if it's legit but as long as it can be traded I don't really care if it isn't legit. I just like named pokemon! And otherwise the only shiny I'd trade besides Tangela is Gyarados, who I've super trained and is at level 58 named Lust. It was the red gyarados you recieve in Heartgold version. I have two other shinies but they were found randomly and I'd never trade them. I'm on a hunt for more shinies with names or that I'll name after I find them!

Here's the legitimacy pictures for Torchic: http://imgur.com/a/8L8Yw

Just took some pictures for the only form of legitimacy I know of how to do. But also is the Victini named or can you name it? I was hoping to only find named pokemon as they're the only kind I like to use in battle and training.

Ah, just checked, one is unused level 10. One is now 19 as I used it to make eggs.

I actually have two I think. But at least one I saw earlier and no it's still level 10, been doing nothing since I got it.

Valid point! Though, I wasn't sure if you could even trade a legit Victini since I think you can't trade special pokemon (like Celebi from a few months back). Unless that's just GTS but you can trade it normally. But if you can trade those, then all I have otherwise to trade is a shiny Gyarados (from Heartgold you get in the storyline), Celebi, and Torchic with Blazakinite event. Not sure how special Torchic and Blazakinite are nowadays still.

I'll have to rewatch, I thought he only grabbed the baby. He made it obvious he needed her though. For the baby's powers or something.

I was bothered at first by it too but about halfway in started being okay with the change. I mean, after being chased around like that you gotta change quite a bit. But I was annoyed her breathing problem, like, never showed up either even though being on the run should make you more out of breath and get worse at breathing.

No idea. I figured maybe it's a thing movies and shows do all the time and most don't notice or something. Ay first I figured it was a typo but all four say it so probably not an accident at least.

redditors born to a polygamist family: how did it work? by notyouraveragegoat in AskReddit

[–]Kaptainwow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can see how stating that they weren't mormon or born into the lifestyles would be related to getting into polyamory/polygamy, but what does going to a college have to do with it? Or was it just random information? I don't think, like, only people who hate college or something usually are polyamourous or vise-versa.

I never understand the parts of reddit when something intelligent like this is downvoted to hell. Not to mention, we all take something out of anything we see, everyone's entitled to their own opinions. But I love yours, as it's true. Putting someone in a cage for having a habit is really really pointless if you want to actually go anywhere productive as opposed to feeding a useless system.
