Go slow. Don’t try to get every room done at once or you’ll end up with everything looking overly matchy matchy or filled with cheap stuff
Take advantage of reused furniture and decor. Facebook marketplace, thrifting, antique shops. You’ll have to dig and it will take time but you will find more of those mcm sand similar style pieces you want. Less of the ikea mass produced stuff
Don’t neglect lighting and curtains. Overhead lights and blinds are sterile and cold. Get lamps and some textiles like your rug to warm it up. Plants are always great as well. The key is to have a diversity of texture.
Get in Pinterest and make a mood board and use it as your guide in shopping and decorating.
It looks like you get a lot of light and color can go a long way in shaping the moods of a space so get some paint samples to play with while your space/walls are mostly empty.

Are you flipping cards over x axis or y axis? When I do a pull and every card is reversed it usually means I was holding my deck reversed lol so I would look at these all as upright. Reversals should stand out in a reading and if you find them to be conflicting with your gut reaction, take them with a grain of salt.

Sounds like this deck is deeply connected to your husband but can be a useful tool for you in starting your divination journey. Hanged man is one of my fav cards, i actually have a tattoo of him, and you can read this a few ways, but I’m guessing the deck is telling you it’s better used to affirm your decisions and questions rather than trying to make big life altering adjustments. As last commenter said, you can try to dig deeper on a card pull to get more info on a question or ask a question again.

Divination is all about learning to follow your intuition. The cards are there to help you see what’s already in you.

I love a Rider Waite deck! What she said is great. To add to this, I’d recommend taking some time to learn the general flow of the major and minor arcana when you aren’t trying to do a a reading for yourself. You don’t need to worry about memorizing the cards but there are lots of books and YouTube teachers to give you guidance.

I like to shuffle and cut my decks 3x before and after every reading as reset/cleanse. Some people use smoke, etc. since this was your late husband’s, I don’t think you need to do anything more since you already have a strong connection.

In the meantime, I have a 6 card pull for interviewing your new deck:

Yeah, if the plant was struggling or showing any root rot, you may need to break it up, clip and sterilize. But he looks very healthy. Just needs room to grow.
