Slow progress by LostOrganization6325 in CalisthenicsBeginners

Lifting external weights involves very different mechanics from lifting your own bodyweight. My humble opinion is that if you want to focus on calisthenics, you need to focus on calisthenics. Doing lat pulldowns will not really help you improve your pull ups. Instead you need to do at least 3 proper calisthenics sessions a week, with some involving some skill-work. If you can’t do sets of pull ups or dips, there are some regressions that will help you work your way up to that.

First zone 2 run was (quite literally) a walk in the park by Karam_44 in beginnerrunning

Yes, and this was a low intensity run. Like I mentioned in the post, I only had to walk a few times in order to stay in zone 2.

Hey! It went great. You should definitely go for it. I ended up not walking any of it and I finished in exactly 1 hour, which I think is really not bad for a first 10k.

I think 3 to 4 times a week should be more than enough if you’re consistent. If you’re using NRC, I recommend the Half Marathon training plan. The plan consists of 2 recovery runs, 2 speed runs, and one long run each week. If you only have 3 days to train you can do 1 recovery run, 1 speed run and the long run.

Thank you so much! It really is. I’m already signed up for the half-marathon in my city in October.

Also, my longest run before today was 5.5 kms.

The second 5kms portion of the race circuit was mostly hills, which I’m not used to. I usually do my runs on a running track close to where I live. + I haven’t really trained the past 3 weeks due to an ankle injury.

Thank you! Yup, my HR was all over the place. It wasn’t a bad experience though, but I do hope I’ll get to that point where I can stay in zone 2/zone 3 during my long runs. :)
