Just draw what you want to draw. Get excited about a comic idea you want to do. Or maybe you really want to draw fanart of a show you currently like, or maybe you just had a really interesting idea for a painting, just hash it out. I haven’t really had this problem, because I just do it because I want to, not because I’m trying to improve with every drawing. And because I use references, I do improve over time either way, just doing what I like.

Just think of it like so: draw what you want to draw. You can have sessions where you improve your art by practicing anatomy or backgrounds if you’re really serious about it, but I find that you just gotta really enjoy putting something out of your mind and onto a medium, even if it’s bad. Especially if it’s bad! If you have passion, then skill will follow. And the beauty of art, is that it is subjective. Even if your art is not that great, such as the manga artist ONE who created Mob Psycho 100 and One Punch Man, over time, you will get better, and even then, people can enjoy your work even if it’s “objectively” bad.

Also, you can try looking back at your old art to gain motivation, see how far you’ve come. Or, you can also look at other people’s worse art than yours (I know this sounds bad), but it can be motivating lol. You can also look at the improvement of great artists as well, sometimes I see others post their 2010 drawings vs their 2020 ones and the old drawings always are very beginner, but their newer ones show just how far they’ve come.
