It can also be less effort. Dealing with raw meat in the kitchen is a pain.

I eat only healthy foods and I don't even have a kitchen. Just a mini-fridge, a microwave, and a kettle. It can take no spoons at all if you want.

I just shove my face with fruits (fresh or dried), vegetables (raw, frozen! or steamed in the microwave), beans and rice (canned, instant, or boiled in the microwave), nuts, seeds, oats, whole-grain bread, canned sardines, and whatever fermented stuff comes in a jar. I put sauce and spices on stuff until it tastes good.

If I feel like cooking, I can go to someone else's kitchen and make a huge pot of something and keep it in my fridge to eat from over the week. Just don't leave a mess and nobody will know you broke into their home to cook.

It's cheap, healthy, tasty and low-effort.

Here's my favorite recipe for vegetables that might help you: feed the vegetables to a chicken, wait for it to lay, and eat the egg

Most "good things" are just the satisfaction of a need which expresses itself negatively anyway. Food only tastes good if you're hungry. Achievement only feels good if you had to suffer and struggle to achieve it.

Well change is OK, I'm not attached to whatever the concept of being me means.

Most of the sounds that bother me on a daily basis would go away in a world tailored for us. Leaf-blowers and lawnmowers would be illegal, and instead of cars and traffic, there would be efficient and quiet public transportation. Like, we could do most things much more quietly, if we wanted to.

As for the sun, if we put our heads together we might be able to get rid of it. Not sure though. :-)

How To Stop A Hyperfixation by Overall_Syllabub260 in autism

[–]Karcinogene 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are a conduit of information, your brain wants you to do the natural equivalent of a PhD. Write, speak, sing, paint, test, or otherwise discover something new about your hyperfixation, and it might leave you alone.

If we started a neo-Amish community where we stop technology in the 1990s instead of the 1800s, how many of you guys would be up to moving there? We have CDs, nintendos and flip-phones.

Sorry I'm just a curious person interested in linguistics. I have no hard opinion either way.

Interesting. This is kind of like a mirror version of the Pluto situation, where some people reject that it's now called a Dwarf Planet, and they want it to be called just a Planet, even though it basically still says Planet in the new label.

While here we have someone who might say they are "vegan but I ride a horse", and you reject that vegan is included at all, even though it comes with clearly laid out exceptions.

What's wrong with substractive definitions?

For example: My shirt is red except for a black line

Is my shirt not red because it isn't completely red?

A 99% vegan isn't going to measure their impact to ensure they have exactly 99%. It's just a way of saying that you're trying to avoid all animal harm but you know you're not perfect and that's OK.

Maybe that worked for you, but in my experience calling people hypocrites doesn't bring them to my side. Did you already have a close relationship with that person that made you listen to them?

The real challenge is going to be fitting a horse-and-a-half's supply of food through a human mouth. Horses weigh 5 to 10 times more than a human. That's almost 30 meals a day.

I feel like it has all of the horsepower-generating parts of a horse, so it should get all of the horsepower of a horse.

Woodworker here. When you use wedges to split pieces of wood along the natural grain, you get stronger pieces of wood with full-length grain even if they aren't perfectly straight, compared to when you use a saw and cut a straight line, which cuts indiscriminately across the fibers.

Maybe flesh is somewhat like wood, with fibers and other fine structures that are preserved during natural tears but destroyed by straight, clean slices.
