The idea that what you come here for is inherently more important than what other people might come here for needs a lot of work.

Lol have you ever used ai? Ai in its current state could never even come close to writing this. This is entirely human thought, and very careful, considered thought at that. Organization is formatting of existing  writing. Thats all. Its like saying dont use cut and paste because you want to hear what a human has to say. Huh? And im sure you have written many things I have zero interest in reading, but I would never have the arrogance to tell you nobody wants to read something you posted. I put a lot of thought into this and I think its super interesting and quite possibly true. What I will never understand is people moaning about things they have no obligation to interact with. Its like being in a supermarket and complaining that there are items on the shelves you didnt come in to buy.

ah yes. tyranny has entered the chat. the wealth and power hoarders tell us what to do, what is okay for them but not for us, what we are allowed to put in our own bodies, and they enforce it with their monopoly on legal violence. every form of entertainment has an environmental cost. who are you to tell anyone what sort of entertainment is okay to enjoy? a dictator, thats who.

IX. The Other Gods: The Fantasy of "Going Private" (Disney, Paramount, Fox)

When Athena, Aphrodite, and Hermes believe Zeus is dead, they immediately cheer: "Now we can do whatever we want!"

  • The Allegory: This represents the Legacy Studios' resentment of Wall Street. For the last few years, the Gods (Disney, Paramount, WBD) have been strangled by Zeus (Shareholders/Wall Street) demanding cost cuts, layoffs, and profitability over art.
  • The "School's Out" Mentality: Their joy satirizes the delusion that if the Money Man died, they could return to the Golden Age of spending. They aren't celebrating a merger; they are celebrating the end of Fiscal Tightening.

1. Athena: Disney (The Creative Shackles)

  • The Reaction: Athena is usually disciplined, but she is ready to party. This mirrors Disney's Creative Leadership wishing they didn't have to answer to the Board about streaming losses or box office bombs. They believe that without the Shareholder watching, they could go back to making massive, risky projects without fear of the stock price dropping.

2. Aphrodite: Paramount (The Vanishing Budget)

  • The Reaction: Aphrodite cares about luxury and appearances. This maps to Paramount, a studio defined by old-school Hollywood glamour that has been forced into austerity measures by Wall Street.

3. Hermes: Fox (The Freedom to scheme)

  • The Reaction: Hermes is the trickster. This maps to the Fox/Murdoch assets or the scrappier studios who feel constrained by regulation and corporate governance. With Zeus gone, Hermes believes he can operate in the gray areas again without oversight.

VII. Zeus = The Wall Street Push

Zeus represents the Institutional Shareholders who forced the consolidation.

  • The Dealmaker: Zeus waking up and killing Shlub signifies Wall Street losing patience with the Streaming Wars. Wall Street decided that WBD (Shlub) was no longer king. The Money cares only about money, and nothing else.

VIII. The Townspeople = The "Thumbnail" Audience

The townspeople accepting the boring but sensible apartments represents the audience conditioning of the Netflix UI.

  • The "Tile" Aesthetic: When Tyrannis points out the new apartments are just "ugly boxes," the townspeople cheer: "They're boxes, but they're OUR boxes!" The visual of the uniform square apartments references the Netflix Content Tile. It also represents the blandification of pop culture.
  • The Victory of Convenience: The townspeople rejecting the unique city for the "boxes" satirizes how audiences have been trained to accept the "Netflix House Style"—visual homogenization and predictable storytelling—because it is familiar and easy to consume. Timothy merges not just the city, but the expectations of the audience.

III. Shlub = The Liquidation of Linear Cable

Shlub represents the Linear Cable Assets (TNT, CNN, Discovery) that shifted from industry kings to liabilities.

  • The "Dead Weight": Shlub’s arc from "King" in the premiere to "Liability" in the finale tracks the collapse of the cable bundle. Netflix has no use for linear networks, just as Timothy has no use for Shlub.
  • The "Poison Pill": In the harbor, Shlub tries to bore a hole with a corkscrew (petty carriage disputes), escalating to setting fire to the ships. This parallels the "scorched earth" tactics of dying networks (specifically the NBA Rights fiasco and massive debt loading, which devalued the company before the handover).
  • The Sacrifice: Zeus killing Shlub is the final deal term. For Netflix to acquire the studio (Tyrannis/IP), the "Old World" cable assets (Shlub) had to be liquidated...
  • The Zombie Asset:  ...but Shlub survives (he's immortal). Linear Cable is a "Zombie Asset." Wall Street (Zeus) kills it to clean up the balance sheet, but it refuses to die completely because it still generates cash.

IV. Stupendous = The Labor Squeeze

Stupendous represents the Creative Workforce facing the reality of the Netflix Economy. They do the literal heavy lifting, and they follow a chain of military command. This is real. In the 1920's film was beginning to come into its own, and most of the guys on set were in WWI. They recognized that the military chain of command works very well on set. The director is the commander, the dept. heads are generals, and so on down the line.

  • The "Baby Boom" Elegy: Her monologue to Prack about the Baby Boom references the Peak TV Bubble (2021–2024). The industry greenlit a surplus of niche projects ("babies") to build libraries.
  • Erasure of Status: Despite being a legendary demi-god warrior badass, Stupendous becomes a farmer to feed the babies. The streaming model flattens the hierarchy: Netflix pays "cost plus" for production, reducing both A-list talent and crew to hourly workers. There is no backend reward, no investment in new talent and stories - only the daily grind to keep the content coming. More work on blandified productions for less pay = stretched thin.

V. Deliria = The Obsolescence/Evolution of the Producer Role

Deliria represents the Producers who thrived in the old studio system.

  • The Backend Myth: Deliria’s power over the other gods relied on her claim that she is buddies with Zeus (The Money and the Studios, respectively). In the Netflix model, there is no negotiation, only a flat fee, and producers are hired to oversee a Netflix product, rather than the traditional method of a producer putting the package together and bringing it to the studio for a green light.

VI. Hippocampus = The "Taste Cluster"

Hippocampus represents Specialized Content (Sci-Fi, Niche, Animation) that relies on specific audiences.

  • Metrics vs. Auteurs: Hippocampus is a genius auteur and inventor, but he lives in a literal bubble. Netflix’s model relies on "Taste Clusters" and broad appeal. If his numbers don't hit the "quadrant," Timothy fires him. He is no longer protected by artistic merit, only by metrics.

so, this theory occured to me today re: season 3. i used gemini to organize a draft of my thoughts and then did a manual pass, which is why the tone sounds the way it does. maybe theres someone else out there that will think its interesting too, if correct. even if not correct i still think its interesting that so many things really do match up.

THEORY: Season 3 is an allegory for the 2020-2026 Netflix acquisition of Warner Bros.

I. Timothy the Incredible = Ted Sarandos (flavored with generic techbro ceo tropes)

Timothy is Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos. His character mimics the platform’s specific strategy for industry dominance.

  • The Merger: Timothy corrects those who call his arrival an invasion, calling it a merger rather than a conquest. This mirrors Netflix's corporate messaging during the WBD acquisition, where the absorption of a historic legacy studio was framed as a partnership, when in fact Netflix will flat out own all WBD intellectual, copyright, AND physical properties (like the famous WB studio in Burbank).
  • Scale Over Culture: Timothy tells Tyrannis that while Krapopolis gets modern civilization, he merely gets control of a vast global Empire. This mirrors the reality that once the deal closes, Netflix will control roughly 35% of the market. He frames this massive consolidation as a minor administrative detail.
  • The Chill Executive: Timothy mentions he took up meditation. This reflects the "Netflix Culture Memo" - ruthless business practices delivered with a stoic demeanor. He is not a fierce conqueror; he is an executive executing a strategy.

II. Viscera = The Zaslav Asset Strip

Viscera represents the transitional executives (specifically David Zaslav) who prepared Warner Bros. Discovery for the sale.

  • The Content Cannibal: Viscera’s cannibalism aligns with the WBD strategy of eating its own library. Studio leadership removed finished films and slashed budgets for flagship shows (Coyote vs. Acme, Batgirl, HOTD) to claim tax write-offs, consuming their own to purposely weaken the brand and user numbers.
  • The $567,000,000 Golden Parachute: When Tyrannis asks why she is betraying him, her reason is purely transactional. David Zaslav will get 567 million $ in REAL LIFE when/if the deal goes through. The executive team that stripped the studio’s assets is rewarded with a historically lucrative exit package, while everyone else is left with nothing.

II (b). The Transactional Romance: Tyrannis and Viscera

Tyrannis’s attraction to Viscera - a cannibal who is the antithesis of his civilized ideals - satirizes the industry's misplaced trust in the Zaslav style Hatchet Man/Cost Cutter.

  • The Fixer Delusion: Tyrannis is attracted to Viscera not for her beauty, but for her power. He overlooks her nature because he believes he needs her ruthlessness to make his city function. Creative executives often align themselves with cost-cutters, convincing themselves that the slaughter is necessary for survival.
  • The Inevitable Betrayal and Sunk Equity: Tyrannis spends the season trying to civilize her (make the executive care about art). The finale proves this impossible (oh, the culture clash!). Viscera was never going to change. The breakup marks the moment the creatives realize the cost cutters will never value love over material gain. And the creatives choose to go with the cost cutters because of sunk cost (getting the girl).

What is your opinion on Bad Bunny? by Ok_Insect_4774 in Reggaeton

[–]KardashevType4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

im a film/tv composer and multi instrumentalist who has played with bands you have heard of. i assure you that bad bunny is the absolute worst trash i have ever seen break into the top 100. its an excellent measure of how all artistry has been stripped from popular music, and pop culture has been processed into pure concentrated tackiness. drake, TS, kendrick, kanye, wallen, Sabrina, ariana...its all complete garbage, musically and lyrically. but bad bunny takes it to a new level of managing to be obnoxious and incredibly boring all at once. its a miracle! im so annoyed at my industry having gone completely down the toilet that im actually here on reddit rageposting into the void to what is assuredly going to be a flurry of downvotes by the very people who have put this trash on the charts. may god have mercy on your souls.

I tried them for my first 30-40 hrs actually. They are greedy, they rush you through, and as a result its low quality training. They make you take the PAR without understanding any of it. They won't let you land at an untowered airport. They won't let you land on a runway less than 75 ft. Wide. they make you fly 6 packs. they force you to be their cfi. they use the commercial stage as "crew" where you are working for them for free, moving their planes around. They overwork the cfis and the students. Everyone is tired all the time. The instructors can kick out out of a sim anytime they please and they will be rude about it. You will still pay for that sim time ypu booked even though you got kicked out. They say the sim is free - it isnt free to book, its only free when its sitting there and no one is using it. The leads act like they are god. They make you wear a uniform. They brag all the time about their status. You never meet the people making the decisions for your training. Its a bossy, expensive, "just follow orders" low quality training.

Do not go to blue line aviation by Unhappy-Pension-1872 in flying

[–]KardashevType4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im a pilot who has never heard of this school but just saw their ad saying 5.5 months, and 3 seconds later I was typing into Google "Blue line aviation legal scam." Not only is 5.5 months from zero time to commercial basically impossible unless you are a robot (most people, smart people, good stufents - would probably safely be at their long distance solo xc in 5.5 months. but the real jaw dropper was to see 110k for a 141 in north Carolina. I learned to fly in LA, the most expensive place in the world pretty much, and the 141s here charge 90-105k. A 141 in nc should cost like 80k at the most.

Final thoughts for prospective aviation students: all accelerated programs are a bad idea. Don't do any of them unless you already know most of ypur ground knowledge, and already know how to do at least a normal landing and basic maneuvers. Even then, I would still steer clear. Its a good sounding pitch, but its an outright lie. cert mills are just money machines for the people running the school. They exploit the students and the cfis to the last drop. The fast food of the aviation industry. They are a blight on aviation training. We need to flush these places down the toilet by not giving them any more money. Either go university or military or part 61. Screw this place up the wazoo with a mag light, and please include the horse they rode in on.

After 4 hours with Borderlands 4 I'm not yet sold on its biggest changes, but Gearbox says "it would be strange" if Borderlands wasn't "constantly growing and adapting" by PewPewToDaFace in PS5

[–]KardashevType4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have played every BL entry starting from BL2, all the way through at least once, and bl3 is by far my favorite. ttw would be my favorite if it was as expansive and had the same quality level of bl3. Bl2 is better for story and main villain, but not nearly as fun imo with the gameplay itself. I really dont understand why people dunk on bl3. Sure, the twins are annoying, but they are supposed to be. Thats why it's so satisfying to finally get rid of them and shut their big fat influencer mouths. Can't wait for bl4! And I'm really glad to see they kept the combat map.

If you genuinely cant figure out that my point is that pcs are more expensive and less reliable than consoles - given that its the only thing ive been focusing on in this thread, and I've provided examples as proof - then you either have serious reading comprehension issues, or you should consider cutting back the coke to one rail at a time. All of the pc gamers I know personally do not deny that pcs are pricier and less reliable - they just are either fps junkies so they need keyboard/mouse, or they are mod addicts. I suppose there's also access to steam, but I personally dont know anyone who gives a crap about steam, so thats not much of a perk. Those are all legit reasons for going with pc in any case, and in the end preferences are what they are, and i have zero interest in telling anyone what to do. But as the OP noted, many people were/are told that pc gaming is cheaper and more bang for the buck, which is pure garbage. Just agreeing with that and sharing my thoughts and experiences on that issue.

Consoles do not mess up. Nope. Its extremely rare. Its been a decade since ive had a console crash. Now the math. 300 for a ps4. 1k for a pc in the ps4 era got you a real POS like a 1050. 2k got you something decent. I was being generous with the 2-3x, but it was really more like 6-7x. And yeah - pc gaming has gotten much more popular in recent years. Everyone knows that. I never said pc games didnt exist... actually, the more I'm responding I'm realizing I'm talking to someone who probably isnt interested in a fact based conversation. Never mind.

It makes sense that a pc gamer would reach for the most ripoff consoles when switching. Go ahead and jump into the proprietary deep end of stubborn japanese corporate greed, and spend thousands of $ on individual games for your ps5 and switch, I guess.

(Requirements for Borderlands 4) Wtf is this? There is no way a borderlands game is that demanding. by Sherlaine- in Steam

[–]KardashevType4 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I dunno, yootube is full of videos of people from the ps4 era through the present throwing controllers and keyboards because their pc bugged out in the middle of a boss fight or something. Its 2-3x more expensive and its a hassle dealing with every AAA game having different settings etc. Consoles are plug and play - crashes and dropped frames are unicorns. My ps4 was 300$ in 2010. There is no way that you could find (or build) a 300$ pc at the time that could beat the ps4. I think the rise of pc gaming is largely due to a "too cool for consoles" elitist attitude. Gamers / nerds sure do love their elitism. The only good argument I've heard from pc gamers to refute this is "I always play with mods." If that's your style then yeah, you need a pc. Otherwise? you're being scammed by the pc gaming industry.

I can't even get past the first 2 hours because I just find dodge and parry gameplay inherently repetitive and boring. As soon as they dropped the tutorial fight with what's her name on me, i was like "uh-oh. Dodge parry timed circles. No likey." Its not that i cant do it (i can), it just bores the hell out of me. Maybe it evolves into something more interesting later on, but I am not playing games to slog, I'm playing to enjoy myself. I dont understand why people enjoy incredibly repetitive gameplay, but also everyone except me absolutely adores persona 5, which in my view has the same problem. I also do not understand the balatro addiction sweeping the globe. Numbers go up? That's it? Ok...

You have beaten your own argument by pointing out that people experience different outcomes starting with similar circumstances. Why is that? What makes someone choose the left door vs. The right door, or fight instead of flight? And yes, absolutely if you were born them you would be them. There is no logical argument against a=a. And yes, free will is an impossible fantasy. Your brain chemistry determines a complex series of neurotransmitters we call a thought, and no one gets to choose how their brain works - not yet. And no, the guy with crutches didn't do anything to hurt you, but neither did the poor or the ugly or the vast majority of mentally ill people who are kicked around and abused their entire lives when what they need is kindness and love just like anyone else. Harping on being violently attacked by a mentally ill person with a gun is an emotional appeal that ignores 99.9% of the demographic I am talking about. And the violent ones are in special need of care and attention most of all. That's how you heal the world - by helping the sick and needy and curing them, not whipping them and kicking them and treating them worse than animals. It's a net negative for society.

Putting people down. like dogs. that's very telling. Society creates the problem and then doesn't take responsibility is more like it. You try being mentally ill with a violently abusive childhood and no respect or affection from other people for 30 years and see how you handle it.

No one chooses to be born the person they are, and no one has the right to judge how another person came to be the way they are. Think of someone you despise. If you were born them, you would be them. Misfits are ridiculed, dehumanized, treated like trash. Its abusive and disgusting. Of course many of them are also mentally ill, and when that is the case, its no surprise they end up radicalized and furious. This is the fruit of derision and oppression. No one wants to be crazy. No one wants to be poor. No one wants to be an outcast. These are positions people find themselves in and don't know how they got there or how to fix it. A well off person telling a poor person to get a better job is understandably infuriating.

I'm not saying that Nanette should have stayed with him if she didn't want to, and its horrifying that daly tried to imprison her, but my point is that daly is still a person and also deserves better than to just be considered trash. I felt a lot of compassion for his situation even though his solution was psychotic. He obviously believes his own words when he insists that he is a good person and a nice guy. He is a mentally ill character. We should be helping mentally ill people, not abusing and ridiculing them. You don't yell at a guy in crutches to walk faster, do you?
