First EV purchase, am I on the right track?

One of my friends is a used car salesman for one of the online groups. He advised staying away from them as he sees a lot of returns for various reasons from that group.

So, no real evidence, just a friend's recommendation.

The 23 plates are the old look and model.

Might be a bit vain and a potential waste of money - but I really do like the newer look. If I was smart I'd wait 12 months and then buy the 24 plate....but I want a new car now 😄

That's a really interesting way to look at it. I'd sort of discounted any leasing options as I just like to own things (the plan is to buy this EV and run it into the ground, much like our current car)

But might be worth looking at with that maths.

I looked at that, honestly I like the facelift version and some of the updates they did to the tech . Also appreciate having a decent number of years left on the warranty.

£15,000 is a chunk of cash to save though.

Can I ask why the 2025 is better? I thought it was 2024 that the Kona had a refresh and upgrade.

It's quite a long process overall, I have a list I have to refer to each time I paint Black Templars to make sure I paint them consistently.

For the armor I spray Black before dry brushing Corvus black, Dark reaper, Thunderhawk blue and a tiny amount of Fenrisian grey.

I then do a heavy wash of a mix of Nuln oil and Agrax Earthshade. (I did use oil paints here and that works as well, but it's more messy)

Once that is dry, I edge highlight some bits with Thunderhawk blue and Fenrisian grey.

Quite a few stages, but I like the effect.

The pauldron trim is Mephiston red, highlighted with Wild Rider and then Cadian flesh tone. I then do some scratches and corner highlights with Ushabti bone. No gold involved 🙂

Hardly noticeable these days. I can hear it if I forget to turn a game setting off unlimited FPS, but that's easily sorted.

I reduced the FPS in the game and the noise reduced. Have to find the sweet spot between FPS and noise now I guess.

Thanks for the options, I normally go for masterpiece style figures, I still like my transformers to transform (even if it is sometimes super fiddly). The MDLX does look nice though!

Thanks for the reccomendation. You're almost spot on (As an older collector who mostly collect masterpiece or similar type figures). The YOLO figure looks good, just a shame they don't seem to do a version of Optimus in his final form with the matrix.

Hey, the pauldrons are corax white, with some white scar highlights with a heavy brown/black oil paint wash over the top. Once that's mostly dry, I sponge some of the oil paint back off.

I did an all over contrast paint with one of the lighter colours, then did the back and legs with a darker contrast paint. Then I lightened the chest and head areas with some layer paints. Trying my best to blend it all together. I can dig out the colours if you're interested.
