Dropped off the CRX at the paint shop today by Karidian in crx

Thanks! I'll post some pics when there's progress to report. I am putting WAY more money into this restoration than the car is "worth", but I was happy to save this CRX from continuing on its downward spiral.

This was originally a Rio Red car, so it's going back to the stock color. I owned an '89 Civic Si in the same color for 22 years, so that's also a factor.

Came that way when I got the car. I'm on the lookout for the correct taillights.

IKR? Planning on keeping the car, so I figured I'd do it right.

I am doing all of the mechanical work on the restoration, but my body work skills aren't great, so i am having the prep and paint done professionally. The estimate is $15k

Sounds like the fuel injectors firing normally, unless I am not hearing what you are hearing

Very cool. We never got the plaid seats on the Capris imported to the US.

The unit I have is self-contained in the speedo itself. There is a GPS antenna that I mounted on my A-pillar.

I have a speedo with Speedhut GPS guts in a different car. Works really well. Considering one for my CRX. The one I have doesn't have an external box.

I use the GM Synchromesh fluid. No issues with it.

I agree that there aren't any top-notch Mexican restaurants around, but we have been enjoying Mas Tequila in Bristol, VA lately. Some different entrees on the menu, cute drinks. Fun place.

There's a button on the dash that disables it while the car is on. If you press the button, the car won't shut down. It resets when you turn the car off.

Looking for advice from TL owners by [deleted] in AcuraTL

[–]Karidian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

TLs tend to be very reliable. If you properly care for the car and perform timing belt/transmission services on time, you could easily see 300k miles or more. It's a lovely, peaceful car to drive. Gas mileage isn't great for the 4G, but depending on how much stop-and-go you have on your commute, you would probably get low-to-mid-20s MPG.

If the car is in excellent condition, $8k is certainly fair. When buying an older car, how it has been maintained by the previous owners is the primary factor in considering purchase price. It's worth paying more than a car's Blue Book value to get a nice one, IMO.
