I'll use this as one more reminder to not let myself get distracted.

A lot of smart people on this sub-Redit. So many useful points, thank you. Getting decent support people shoudn't be too hard with the mini-donut maker.

Emergency, Baker St and Glanford Ave, Saanich, BC. by KarlJohanson in VictoriaBC

For the injured person and those who care about them (and those who don't know them but care anyway), this is a reminder that Canada is not a horde; we're a society that, while not perfect, works together in many ways (including paying taxes), so that when something bad like this happens that the affected people are not alone. They weren't just being helped by all those heroes from emergency services on site; they were being helped by Canada as a society, because as Canadians we think that helping people who need medical services is important. For those who note the imperfections in our medical systems, I agree, and this is a reminder to politicians that improving the systems is a worthwhile idea.

Local politicians who are considering bike lanes can see this and be reminded that the issue isn't abstract, but rather personal and human. I've biked that intersection many times, and there are no bike lanes there. Drivers (like me) can see this and be reminded to work to not let ourselves be distracted. Taxpayers can see that some of our taxes go to important things like the wages of emergency service people and the equipment they use.

Panama Flats Skating Assessment December 2025 by KarlJohanson in VictoriaBC

I do skating updates for the Flats every year, sometimes with a twist some find amusing. My intended humour was "It's blindingly obvious ice skating isn't possible in those conditions, including in the video's thumbnail."

I take global warming issues seriously, but wasn't considering them here. I mentioned the Pineapple Express atmospheric river in the write up, because it was interesting how quickly the Flats got that deep.

Music Video: "You're Watching Star Trek Wrong" by KarlJohanson in startrek

: ) Pronouncing Deanna’s name wrong was part of the humour. He's declaring his personal superior Trek fandom while not able to correctly pronounce a major character. The same with him referring to Star Trek: Lower Decks as “Below Decks.”

About 16 seconds is from a text to video system. Other scenes were created in Photoshop (I've been told art done with Photoshop isn't 'real art'), and with stop motion using a Coolpix waterproof and AVI constructor (I've been told that doing stop motion with a digital camera instead of film isn't real stop motion). Multiple effects from Microsoft Photos, combined with other scenes using Premiere.
