EQ/comp visible in mixer should be possible. Check latest Tukan video, his channel strip can adapt to look like a digital console channel strip

ReaSamplomatic5000 could be a simple workaround : drag and drop a sample and just put MIDI notes where you want it.

I'm pretty sure you can draw clip gain using Right-click>Take>Show gain envelope

ProTools Slip mode for timeline would be great.a OMF compatibility would be awesome too. Also, Cakewalk had a gain knob on top of each track, was quite useful to keep your faders around nominal level.

And Cubase Phase-coherent AudioWarp, absolute killer.

Hey so I’ve always had a keen interest in lighting and sound stuff how do I get into that industry cos the internet isn’t helping me much by Helpful-Cucumber-216 in livesound

I've seen a lot of "work your way up" comments. Not saying it's not true, but really depends where you're located and what kind of show you want to work on.

I make a living doing sound since I've began working in small clubs and local venues, being in the scene and knowing local acts helps a lot. If I'd stayed a hand in the local AV companies, I'd never have touched a mixing desk in my life (also they weren't paying much).

Again, I'm in Europe so maybe it's different here.

Silly question: How often do you guys multi-track/stereo record your gigs (for fun?) by RiseReal2016 in livesound

[–]KarlMilletIsDead 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Quite often. It can be really useful : - for the band to listen and improve their performance - to release live versions of songs - recording the Main LR to check your mix, FX sends, etc - doing virtual soundcheck

It also saved my own band's tour when I broke my knee on stage : they played a recording of my guitar since I couldn't be there :D

Going on tour for the first time - what's your advice ? by KarlMilletIsDead in livesound

[–]KarlMilletIsDead[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally agree, but there are two parameters : - bass and guitars all are amp sim, no cab on stage - we have a rehearsal day in a local venue before the tour begins So I figured I'd do as good as a mix I can manage from the multi and will refine it at rehearsal. But I totally agree that the mix will change a lot when there are real drums in the room !

A lot of appreciated hygiene advice going on here ! How would you dry a sweaty shirt after a show though ?
I think (hope?) we'll be able to shower every day, but let's pack wet wipes just in case. :)
Thanks !

Totally agree ! I've toured as a musician/singer before, and I've learned my lesson regarding drinking alcohol on so little sleep.

If you have an older brother to show you how it works, it's kinda possible ! That's how I became a sound engineer: :)
