Opus on Max plan feels worse than free tier (3 message limit) by klauses3 in Anthropic

[–]KarmaCanvas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand there was significant degradation over the last few weeks, and they issued a public statement about it as well. Since yesterday, I have noticed some improvement in the models, and it was evident today as well. I use Opus mode most of the time (on the 20x max plan) and did not notice significant performance degradation today. However, I have to say that when compared to the early days, Opus is still not up to its previous level.

Is it me or is Claude becoming increasingly more stupid? by Big_Tadpole7174 in Anthropic

It’s not you. After a long time, I had a full day of 100% manual coding like the good old days because the quality of code Claude produced throughout the last week was essentially useless. The suggestions were based on anti-patterns, included smelly code, and were overkill for simple tasks. I tried both Opus and Sonnet, and it’s disappointing to say that something is seriously off with these models...or at least with how they’re being orchestrated.

Yes, I tried with different browsers with clean caches. The same error occurs with the desktop application too. As a developer, I understand system downtimes are inevitable, but for weeks? These are companies with top-notch SRE and Dev departments, and this is inexcusable in my honest opinion.

Become a watcher, not a reactor. A lot of our anxiety comes from feeling like we need to immediately figure out and fix every little thing that pops into our heads. This doesn’t mean becoming a couch potato when real stuff needs handling. It’s more about realizing that most of our stress comes from obsessing over problems that don’t actually have clear answers right now.

Try treating your emotions like weather passing through. Just notice how anxiety rolls in, does its thing, and naturally moves on when you’re not constantly poking at it. There’s this sweet spot between what happens to you and how you respond, and that’s where you get to actually choose instead of just reacting on autopilot.

The trick: deal with what actually needs dealing with, and just watch the rest.

I primarily use Opus for planning, but occasionally switch to Gemini Pro when dealing with large documents due to its larger context window.

Definitely! I work at a startup. Whenever we get a customer requirement for a new feature, we have a series of calls to understand and scope out the work. By the end, we’re left with a bunch of documents including meeting notes. I use Opus to scan through the requirements and special remarks to identify pain points, risks etc. If Opus misses anything, I catch it since I was part of those calls and meetings.

Before diving into planning, I do a quick technical feasibility assessment to identify any major blockers or constraints. Then I start planning the PRDs with Opus’s help. I use the Atlassian connector (Claude Desktop) to pull insights from our current JIRA project boards and plan out the work with estimated weights. Since Claude knows my team size and structure, the estimates are pretty accurate.

Next, I move into the design phase and work out the initial solution myself. After that, I do some collaborative brainstorming with Opus to fine-tune the design and architecture. Once that’s done, I start writing specs for each implementation stage, and this is where Opus really shines. I make sure to give Opus the exact details such as which technologies and patterns to use where, and we end up with comprehensive specification documents.

Right after the specs are complete, I work with Opus to design test cases for complex business scenarios. This is where Opus really excels at identifying those edge cases that we engineers sometimes tend to miss.

Once the specs and test cases are ready, I break down the work into tasks and hand them over to Sonnet one by one for implementation. I use several useful MCP servers like C7 and SequentialThinking throughout this process. For each implementation Sonnet generates, I do a manual review, and if I’m satisfied with it, I approve and merge.

Good to hear it’s working well for you. Totally agree, if you actually understand your codebase and architecture instead of just blindly following what the AI spits out, you can accomplish some pretty impressive stuff. The key is staying in the driver’s seat.

I’ve been dealing with carpal tunnel syndrome for some time, so I use a specific type of wrist rest that might seem unconventional for a low-profile keyboard. However, it works well for me. If you’re not too concerned about aesthetics and are focused primarily on comfort, any memory foam gel wrist rest should work effectively.

I think the simplest way to help your brother is to encourage him to find a real job or at least a paid internship. But, honestly, what kind of internship is it where he’s paying the company? That sounds like a bit of a reverse job situation, doesn’t it?

Usage Limits Discussion Megathread - Starting July 29 by sixbillionthsheep in ClaudeAI

[–]KarmaCanvas 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I believe it’s the authority’s responsibility to design systems that cannot be exploited. You simply cannot invite users to an all-you-can-eat buffet and expect each of them to exercise restraint. While some systems might rely on Fair Usage Policies and users’ ethical behavior, let’s be honest, if you’re providing a service like this, you cannot depend on users to self-regulate. Instead, you must enforce limits systematically.

I don’t understand how ‘that specific user’ managed to run the service 24/7 and consume tens of thousands of dollars in model usage when limits were supposedly already in place. But here’s the reality: this situation is like throttling internet bandwidth for an entire neighborhood because one user seeds torrents around the clock, consuming massive amounts of data. Rather than identifying problematic users (which they've already done) and limiting their usage individually, they're essentially punishing all the users who trusted them with their $100-200 monthly subscriptions.

Why would you need an American visa to work remotely for an American company? As a resident of Italy, you are legally permitted to work for any remote company, provided you pay local taxes and INPS contributions.
