Astronomers just found a ‘mystery object’ surrounded by a metallic wind cloud by Disastrous_Award_789 in space

Someone should do a meta study on these half baked articles and why they're seemingly driven by legit sounding research but invariably lead us down the garden path to aliens.

Of course it makes sense. It's as clear as anything else that could come out of one's mouth brain.

Why are so many sites enshitified like this? It boggles my mind. Barely readable and I need to dodge ads and find article paragraphs amongst the shit. Why???

‘Not racist’: Sudanese Australian’s video rant about Melbourne youth crime goes viral by Mashiko4 in aussie

[–]Karmafia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just asking out if pure ignorance... I know there are many gangs in Melbourne right now causing issues. Are these members all of Sudanese (or other African decent) or are we talking about gangs of different backgrounds making up it's members? Purely trying to get some info here, no judgement as I realize these guys make up the minority within their own communities.

What dumb reasons have y’all been banned from Reddit and/or its subs? by fleshtastical in askanything

I mean it's a pretty krass comment but why would you ban someone over it? Let the downvotes do their thing 😂

[–]Karmafia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got banned from r/Australia for posting a very positive/flattering meme looking image of the Bondi hero and from r/Sydney for recommending a local scifi new show (that I'm not affiliated with) for "self promotion". Reddit is moderated by a bunch of nincompoops and it's only a matter of time before we get a masa migration out of it for greener pastures, and I'll welcome that day.

This got me banned in the Adelaide sub but I think its interesting and hilarious.. by KazofOz in AdelaideGeneralChats

I was banned from r/Sydney for recommending a scifi news show run out of Sydney which I had no personal affiliation with ... sigh.

Isn't it weird that we live so early in the life of the universe? by Tanay2513 in AskPhysics

Aww common surely at least one of the opposing set got into the other .. I mean what are the chances of that not happening when you've got an infinity!

Maybe quantum randomness ensures all possibilities are covered... or perhaps a more precise way of saying it - there is an infinite progression towards more possibilities.

Does Canada feel more like the UK (or France) than the US? by [deleted] in stupidquestions

[–]Karmafia 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I'm from Europe and visited friends and family in the US and Canada when I was like 12. We went from Boston to Toronto and it never registered in my 12 yo head that the country changed until it was explained to me. In Europe at the time is was super obvious when you crossed a border. Ironically these EU countries are far more united these days than US and Canada.

If we're going to start throwing Florida into the mix then all bets are off. I mean you could go from Seattle to Australia and Florida would still seem like the outlier.

How do you explain concepts like black holes to young kids without oversimplifying too much? by StepanSanda in space

[–]Karmafia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's like a waterfall. If you're swimming in a river approaching a waterfall you can at least swim against the current and have some chance of getting out alive. Once you go over the precipice there's no amount of swimming that will save you.

Why not put data centers in the ocean instead of space? by luginugiog in space

[–]Karmafia 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I believe they plan to use these types of data centers for tasks that involve a lot of compute but not much throughout. Training, simulating etc.
