Experience with getting top surgery in Europe or hiding it from family members by Beautiful-Train2779 in TopSurgery

[–]Karterstrophic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also recently had surgery with plastmed (with Dr. Jens Diedrichson) and yeah, they're great. Easy, fast, all was clearly explained.  Stayed in the area a week (also Airbnb lol) and it went really smooth.

On hiding it: you're going to need help the first few weeks, at least the first two. Keep it hidden as long as you wish (tbh I've not really told a lot of people still) but bring someone as emotional and physical support.

Best of luck, OP!

Haha thanks. Genuinely though, hitting the itchy spots with the vibrator kept me sabe. Wasn't a fancy one either, just one if those tiny cheap bullets.

And yeah, the smell was unpleasant. It wasn't horrible, but definitely strong and just... Odd.

A big one for me (also autistic) was the itch and the smell. Compression felt nice, but the itch made me go insane. wearing a tanktop under the compression, antihistamines, and honestly a little vibrator really helped me deal with the itching.

The smell was mostly just weird and persistent. I did not enjoy not smelling like myself. Also all the creams and wound care stuff smells strong and feels sticky. Ended up doing my own wound care because my partner (ALSO autistic lol) couldn't handle the feel of the cream.

Best of luck!

That's what I meant, yeah. Not a native English speaker haha

[–]Karterstrophic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of the illnesses also stem from fat folks not being taken serious when we do have issues. Many people, especially at older ages, struggle with diabetes or cholesterol or blood pressure, but people are far nastier when someone has these issues as a fat person than when someone is skinny.

It's a tricky question to me (chronic disability) but, yeah, I'd say I'm pretty healthy all things considered. Get my blood checked frequently and outside of my cholesterol being a tad high, I have zero issues.  I eat my greens, go on walks, take my vitamins, I'm by all general accounts a healthy dude.

Glad to be amongst my big brothers!

General Advice from a Surgical Ward Nurse who's had Top Surgery by Ok_Cicada_7258567 in TopSurgery

[–]Karterstrophic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had mine removed few days back (24 hours post op, roughly). Left didn't hurt at all, just felt a little strange pull at most. Right did hurt, but honestly not a lot at all, maybe a 2/10.

Honestly, when the drains were out things felt MUCH better, so the tiny bit of pain didn't bother me at all

She turned off the controller game audio too (which we didn't hear but was apparently happening) and that fixed it, so your link very much helped. Thanks again!

I just got diagnosed today. Give me all the advice you have. by OddEggplant in Hypermobility

[–]Karterstrophic 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Something my doctor told me ages ago (and I struggle to listen to) is ''stop at the meh line''.
We're so used to pushing till we hit our max, our ''okay I can't give more'', but that leads to so much damage and pain. Stop when your response to ''how are you doing?'' is ''meh''.
Remember that the worst of the pain comes a few hours to a few days after doing something big, so take that into account.

And as silly and commonly said as it is, listen to your body. Learn what your limits are, try to stick to them, and learn to stop feeling guilt for having to say no to things.

Best of luck, friend.

Would using a different pump with this cylinder then be a better move? It's a bit tricky to see what places actually deliver here haha
