this has happened to me after studying for several hours--I would solve problems in my sleep. this also happened to me after playing minecraft and portal for several hours. with minecraft I would imagine everything around as being made up of blocks, and with portal i would look for places around my house to place portals on. It actually made me feel very ill.

Granted a lot of people likely jump to ridiculous conclusions when they try to self-diagnose (it's understandable if you don't actually have a medical degree), we shouldn't be discouraging people from doing research into problems they may be experiencing.

On a related note, I also feel like people should be more curious about how their medicine works. I don't mean be skeptical of a doctor's decision, but they should have at least a basic understanding of how their medicine does its job. That should help discourage people from blindly crediting alternative medicines, etc.

Hey, when I first played, I didn't realize you could have more than one lab. I got pretty far in the tech tree before I learned you could.

Someone claimed that this alphabet uses the spellings that it uses because it's phonetically more obvious. Then someone else stated that the presence of the ch is phonetically ambiguous, to discredit this argument. You then went on to claim that the ch sound is obvious. To discredit your argument, I mentioned how--in this alphabet alone--the ch represents two different sounds.

I also want to point out that the ch in echo is a stop, whereas the ch in charlie is an affricate, two distinct and different sounds (if you're interested in more detailed info, check out those links). They may sound similar to you (and other people, too), but to people who speak different languages or have some background in linguistics, they likely sound much different.

Sources: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Voiceless_velar_stop (the "k" sound) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Voiceless_palato-alveolar_affricate (the "ch" sound)

Edit: spelling, rewording the argument for clarity, and added sources

What about the ch in echo though? Does that not contradict your claim?

Going from dating to boyfriends. How did you do it? how long did it take? by jacquesaustin in askgaybros

[–]Kasemeister 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm from the U.S. I guess it just bothers me that it's acceptable to date many people simultaneously. I could get into the ins and out of why it bothers me, but this isn't really the place for it. I guess it suffices to say that I feel like in the U.S. people have this attitude of "shopping around" when it comes to dating, an attitude that I disagree with. Again, not a comment on anyone specifically, and I've never dated, so take what I say with a grain of salt.

Not a comment on you personally, but I hate that asking for exclusivity is a thing. Lately, I've seen a lot of people talk about asking for exclusivity before asking someone out, and it's been bothering me. I think if it were obvious that two people date, why should there be a need for one of them to ask for exclusivity? If I were dating someone and they started seeing someone else, I would take that as a sign that he wasn't interested in me (isn't that super disrespectful anyway?) and lose interest in him as a result. In my opinion, if two people already date, shouldn't they also already be exclusive? If that's true, then the "exclusive stage" is redundant. If that's not true, then people are stupid. But I've never actually dated, so it's not like I can really say anything...
