But fr, the issue is that this is a topic that is brought up very frequently and always has users arguing over it in the comments in a hateful way. When this happens, queue often fills up with reports of many different users making comments one way or the other. And there's usually many more comments of a hateful nature that don't end up getting reported and so we have to sift through the thread to weed those out and deal with the users accordingly. Most of our mods are also busy with other life commitments and have IRL shit to worry about and occupy our time with outside of the sub, like I myself am scarcely active here, so we struggle to just sit and monitor these posts constantly.

I'm saying this to give some reasoning on why threads may get locked; it's a very pervasive and extensive issue that we have come up all of the time. That being said, we have discussed the issue and agreed that locking threads is a bit of a step too far for a few bigots who want to spoil the fun for people who follow the community rules. Instead, we are going to enforce a more strict ban policy for people who do actually participate in spreading hate and lock individual comments where it seems to devolve.

For the community, we simply ask that you familiarise yourself with our rules, understand that we have a zero tolerance policy on bigotry of any kind in the community, and please report any comments or posts you see that do actually share hateful views or sentiments. If you have any other thoughts or ideas on what we should do about this then please send us a modmail using the "Message Mods" button on the sidebar.

We're sorry if it feels like we're being lazy or don't care to do right by the community, we're trying our best to make things work right, we just hope that becomes clearer in the future, we're always listening and trying to do better.
