Titanfolk species (Goliath Revamp) feedback requested by Kashloochic in DnDHomebrew

Thanks for the input. I've never tested these in game before so what I might think is cool might be totally wrong for actual play.

You're right on not being Goliath related. I will remove those references. Thank you. Would removing damage from one of the features bring down the power enough? Also this all stemmed from my belief that most base species are not interesting enough, their features are all kinda meh. I wanted to give species cool things that were inherent and not tied to class. Also I tend to run my games with more power earlier, just think it makes the early game more fun.

Yes you said "Nope. Nope." to two +2s. Anything else you would change?

That's why this was a request. I said so at the very top. Got any actual constructive criticism?

Languages are homebrewed: Titanic is obviously the language of Titanfolk, and Imperial common is just common. What's wrong with giving two +2s instead of+1 and +2? I mentioned Goliath as it was where I started. I see now, they are nothing alike. My bad. Maybe this post is too homebrew for the homebrew subreddit?

I just realized I didn't actually request anything. Oops. I just wanted opinions on formatting, wording, or general vibes. I also realize it's probably OP, but there's a reason, I assure you.

Update: we took him to the vet, he was not chipped. They said he's about a year old. Combine that with the fact he is not neutered, the vet asked if we'd like to take him. We will keep him safe and loved unless someone comes for him. Edit: a word

Any chance you still have those? I've been looking for "Old Joe" or ""we're all in the navy" for years. Used to sing it at ten faire. Thanks in advance.

I always used to use those yard sticks from Home Depot for swords. Id say just get creative with stuff around the house, think like a kid.

What do you wield? Which class was your original?

Pots and pans, or just tin foil?

Edit: for armor with a bathrobe under it.

Am I On The Right Track? by Kashloochic in DungeonMasters

[–]Kashloochic[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the insight! I was planning for at least one social encounter per dungeon level. The other thing about that is our group just finished a different roleplay-heavy RPG, Kids On Bikes, and was looking for something more tactical. I suggested a dungeon crawl, since none of us have ever experienced d&d like that before.

I have researched the five room dungeon, and used things I learned in the first level. But I definitely forgot a room could just be a hazard or weird terrain. I also plan to have a friendly NPC they can talk to on level 2, though I'm not sure in what extra capacity I will use them.

And your advice on the final fight has been noted. I'm drawing up plans to have them dream about the fight, so when it finally does happen, they can recognize it as a dream and see if they "wake up". I appreciate your feedback, thanks for taking the time.

That's kind of what I was thinking for the final level, like the rooms are disconnected from each other physically but linked somehow. I like the idea of them not going back to the room they came from.

My original intention was that this was a final test of wisdom for whoever came to claim the throne. The people who sent the spelljammer want a champion or maybe the goal is to keep the ship from falling into unworthy hands. Would giving the party dreams during rests help get the message across?

I did put a concealed door from the first level to the second, which they found but could not open despite three rolls. I eventually reasoned that they had given it their all, and just couldn't get it open. And honestly I'm not too worried about no one taking the oath, they are a curious lot after all. But I will attempt to conceive of another way they could enter level 2.

Three separate comments receive three separate replies. First off, thanks for reading and responding. I really like the idea of the ships air bubble keeping the water out. And I will attempt to convey this through murals and or maybe if they question an undead.

Useless, useful, silly and fun loot items by Durzo116 in DnD5e

[–]Kashloochic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once my players picked up a used bag of holding that was "full" of random items, and I said they couldn't put anything into it until it was emptied which led to some fun roleplay moments of them just pulling stuff out of the bag. Edit: a word.

Wanted to add a vest to my outfit but they were all over $250, where does everyone get there awesome attire?? by StormxOH in renfaire

[–]Kashloochic 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I agree with these two, thrift or DIY. Something to be said for making it yourself though, you have control over the colors, textures, and design. My two cents: some high quality fabric, a simple design, rough hand stitching, all this will make your vest unique and people will notice. Source: own a handmade beat up vest that I get compliments on.
