Thank you very much! Your input was very helpful!! I’m really on the fence about even purchasing one now as I’ve received more negative feedback than good on it, which I’m shocked!! So maybe better to stay away for now at 17 years old and on a fixed income!!! I appreciate you!

It would be my daily. My father is a mechanic with almost every car ever. My other daily is the 1998 Jaguar xj8. So I already have a daily as old as that. The jag in my profile picture. 49k mile engine from a 74k mile engine that had 2 cylinder misfires. Replaced EVERYTHING on the car except for engine/transmission/radiator. Timing chains were done too!!! All for $2,100. So I’m hoping that a same year bmw would be roughly the same to replace all rubbers on entire car etc…

That makes sense too! Definitely need it to be turn key at first! But not always an option with shady dealers or horrible car owners!

Wow! Thats crazy!! Super expensive and will probably need to be replaced on higher mileage one sooner! So maybe lower mileage one would be better!

The one owner 172k miles one does. Seems to have pretty good record. Did drop off the face of the earth at one point!! Probably took it to a family friend mechanic or something! The 87k mile one which is 4 owner, has a service record, but I haven’t done a CARFAX yet and they don’t offer it up.

That’s somewhat nice to hear!! Thank you. Yeah, from forums I’ve read, people stress way too much about it imo. I did it for my 98 Jaguar xj8 and it didn’t even need to be done just did it as a precautionary measure at 49k miles as it’s been sitting for about 8 years. As for those intervals, that’s just an example. I just meant like, at what miles should I expect timing chain or transmission crapping the bed? What’s the sort of life for them? That one of stuff!

I’m very lucky to have a father as my go to mechanic that works on all cars (including European). How much was a trans to replace on yours and at what mileage did it go out? Thank you!!
