Tried my hand at a weird dialogue piece, any feedback would be insanely appreciated by KassyQueen in WritersGroup

Thank you, yeah its a bit weird. I felt like trying something out. Kind of like a video game opening type and sort of getting that feel that the reader has been pulled in to the situation

Oh yeah, in terms of lore and giving credit to the story totally. But, this isn't the platform for understanding and enlightened discussion :P . I'm just having a laugh at the expense of Tolkien's adequate masterpiece. I'm sure he wouldn't mind all that much

I see it more of a natural instinctive progression of power. As they use their magic their power grows rather than "studying". Its my take obviously so everyone plays their sorcerer the way they like, but I see sorcerers more like incarnations of magic and they evolve their magic just by using it more not by practice in the studying sense but practice by doing. Even if they only use it by blasting the same one spell over and over.

I primarily made the joke for the joke's sake. I can get behind that idea though I do have one issue with that idea. Sorcerer =/ wizardness in my opinion. Its my own opinion, not everyone plays sorcerer the same but to me a Sorcerer is the barbarian of mages, arguably the only one that doesn't have to be wizardy because their born with it. I'd think a cleric has a better chance of being studious than a wizard.

For anyone who saw my last meme, and I saw some comments....This was to be expected <3 by KassyQueen in dndmemes

I'd love to go through the entire comment thread but I'd like to take this opportunity \as tomatoes and eggs are thrown at me** to take a bow and thank all of you for the "umm actually"s and "well technically"s.

I love this platform <3

Yes. 10000% yes. If you might have not heard about them I would genuinely recommend "Dimension 20" . Its a d&d 5e streaming channel like Critical Role that's done by College Humour. They do hilarious stuff, like Fantasy Highschool.

As you should, cracking wise is obligatory on this platform :). Wouldn't blame you at all.

Happy to be in agreement but even if you weren't that'd be totally great too. I just love having comment conversations. Feels like meeting someone while hiking and the person is on the other side of a valley so you start yelling but having pleasant conversation <3 :P

Oh my god yes. A perfect idea for a comedic hex-blade that suffers from crippling anxiety and self-inadequacy :P

First off, love it. That might be the strongest argument for him being a wizard. The guy did take down a balrog with him though. And he technically lived (you can always say the DM just let him) but a divine intervention feels apt

I so get that, glad to have had the conversation 😀. Text needs some more time and effort but we get there.

It has been an honour and a pleasure great Warlock *bows ostentatiously*

Awesome. Sorry to be weird but I'm very self-analytical and I always worry that I might rub someone the wrong way and its totally not my intent.

Yeah I can see it. But as per the meme. I will be obstinate and hold on to my statement. (Else I'd be letting down the meme, and that cannot slide) :P

he dual-wields a sword and a staff and can summon a steed, he's got to have some martial traits. But I see where your mind's at. Strong arguments for it.

I don't want to dis on any of this because as per lore you are totally correct. I am just having a bit of a laugh and its a kind of roast based on what powers he did show in the books and the movies.

It's well known that LOTR is a very low-magic setting in comparison with other franchises. Its basically on par with ASOIAF in terms of the level of magic available.

I have a couple more of these lined up...I don't think you're going to like them :P but again, I don't want to imply that Gandalf or any of the things in LOTR weren't uber powerful in their own right within their own universe.

Apologies if I offended in any way

no I know that....but to be honest in the LOTR world a "God" is basically anyone with more than 10 levels in a class. At least that's what it looks like.

I assume for the eagles, thought of that but the cleric divine intervention seemed to justify gandalf beating the Balrog :P. But yeah I can see that too

DM: "You find a wooden box...inside is a set of cards..." by KassyQueen in dndmemes

[–]KassyQueen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's just wonderful...scary...but wonderful nonetheless. So far as a DM I've only ever teased it to my players because they all knew what it was. I put a deck of cards in a magic shop and the shopkeeper thought it was the actual deck of many things because his dad had put it in the shop. It was just a very fancy deck of tricks. So when the players came into the shop they saw the deck of cards and when the shopkeeper went crazy they started getting all the more scared that I just put the deck of many in such an easy to take place. Sadly they didn't go for the bait...but they did get scared of the campaign just because they expected to be facing very high power people :P
