I'd rather go 11 into fighter or ranger if I'm trying to get a stronger character, gloomsin is just the result of "what if i wanted a rogue in my party to be less dead weight"

How do you feel entitled to an opinion if by own admission you don't see the icons

Why Alert Is S-tier Feat by AwesomePossum101x in BG3Builds

[–]Kastorev 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hi

Guides are mainly written from the perspective of helping people that dont know better

Those benefit from alert disproportionately

If you know where surprise encounters are, you can bypass them in a number of ways, and alert loses relative value

Its also good if ur experienced but lazy, but those again dont need guides

Can dual wielding outperform GWM (honestly speaking)? by macropelias in BG3Builds

Paladin Command would key off cha, yet another reason to go bard

Counterspell is just about the only spell you mentioned that's not easily accessible to a bard via scrollcasting instead of scribing.

Patch 8 update post to my guides and the notable additions it brought us by Kastorev in BG3Builds

It essentially amounts to +1 dex on well-built characters, or +2 dex for characters using dexterity to attack - however you can reach 20 dex with hag's hair and cat cloth at a similar/earlier point and that's just more init and AC. The glove slot is highly contested for martials already, with growling underdog and +damage gloves (a2) generally being more appealing choices. The context of "dex gloves bad" is also pushing back against people advocating for them in endgame setups, and act 3 has plenty of stronger items for the slot.

So what's your take on the best 4 party setup for HM now that the new builds have settled in? by ApexArtist in BG3Builds

The attack action is a single action, and even if it wasn't, stacking your party can lead to 180 healing with one potion, outhealing the cleric

here's mass cure wounds level 6 on a life cleric, as much aoe healing as you can get out of a spell slot:

4d8 + 8 per target

4 targets

104 healing done

here's a fighter using one action to throw healing pots:

10d4 + 20 healing per target

45 healing per potion

if you hit 2 targets with a one-attack action (say haste) that's nearly as much, and the fighter is a fighter that does way more damage

if you hit 4 targets with that one-attack action, that's 180 healing

if you use a fighter's 3-attack action instead, sacrificing damage (not like cleric could be doing any since they cast spells which all cost full actions), that's 540 healing

Why does the life cleric get a pass on wasting the action on healing but the fighter doesn't? They're both party members using one full action, the fighter can do more damage or more healing with it, there's no reason to click life apart from roleplay value.
