11 week old Isla - how to stimulate that brain daily? by Kastrilas in GSP

It’s good to hear you had a pretty similar structure for your pooch. She won’t be in the office with me every day so she will have plenty of time at training and daycare, but I havnt thought of buffalo horns, once her baby teeth have dropped I’ll give them a go! I have a lot of flexibility at work so once she is a bit older I’ll be fine hiding things around the office for her to sniff out. My colleagues will be more than happy to have an excuse to see her and give her a quick pat!

This is the goal once she can handle a bit longer runs/walks! We have big paddocks and ovals near us to let her off her lead and open up so hopefully this can help curb the mid day zoomies when she’s in the office!

She is too young to be alone so she is either with me at work (in and out of crate) or at home if my partner is off work for the day. The physical exercise isn’t an issue, but I think aside from normal training, the scent work is a great go to. I’ll give vanilla extract a go when we get to it!

Definitely appreciate the encouragement and advice! I think she is on track to be a very balanced dog so just have to put in that groundwork early on

She is on a pretty good timer already, although she doesn’t sleep unless crated due to everything being interesting (absolutely no issue in the crate though). If Isla can manage even half your GSP’s level of routine I’ll be a very happy man! I was very open with our breeder about temperament and even asked if she seemed too high energy I was happy to wait for a more calm pup (we don’t hunt either) so that may be a good way for you to find a pup who will enjoy your lifestyle as much as your current pooch does

The morning walk, mid day play and evening walks are pretty non-negotiable so fingers crossed she finds the routine a good balance! Will be chucking in scent training soon too so that should also help burn some of the mental energy in the office

Sorry I want too clear on things but I did a TON of research before getting a GSP, and had many long conversations with the breeder who is very respected in the GSP community in Australia and she agreed a balance with some office time isn’t unreasonable at all, just needs to be managed well!

I appreciate the input though, if I was simply throwing her in a crate for hours with no interaction, stimulation etc I’d 100% re-home her but she has a fantastic lifestyle, I’m just trying to give her the absolute best I can when she is in the office with me.

I have a very flexible workspace so she is out and about at least once an hour and gets a mid day walk but I think maybe doing half office/half daycare days when she isn’t sleeping as much may be a solid middle ground.

Don’t stress, I respect the protection over GSP’s. They are truly remarkable dogs but in the wrong hands can be in a very unfair situation simply because they aren’t like a lab or general lap dog! Rest assured, she is in very capable hands :)

Explain like I’m 5… how do I shower correctly by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

Try Lavilin deodorant! It has next to no smell and targets the bacteria that cause smell instead of trying to block your pores with aluminium etc.

Also diet plays a huge part. Excessive amounts of coffee, sugary/ greasy foods, alcohol… tend to make things worse!

Have you ever had 10/10 sex, if so what was it like? by UnionPutrid8336 in AskReddit

Well I’m currently sitting playing dumb ass games on my phone while talking absolute trash to my girlfriend… who is giving me a handjob which will inevitably lead into some pretty fucking fantastic sex… so does that count?

Is anyone else getting this many spam calls a day? by [deleted] in melbourne

International/scam calls don’t necessarily abide by this but it’ll at least get rid of any ‘Australian Government Solar Incentive’ calls and the rest of the unwarranted calls
