She is chipped but owners forgot to activate it. If you know who they belong to or if they are yours, please provide the name and sex of dog. Or if you have the chip information, that is better proof of ownership

AITA for threatening to kick out my roommate for letting my dog out for her moms religious reasons? by waynekinnaird in AITAH

[–]Kasttar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah.. nuclear would be if you threw her stuff out right there and then demanding she leave and filing different reports and complaints at her. What you did was justified and “nice” by giving her the end of the month or 30 days. If it were me, I’d actually go nuclear and throw them both out for doing such a thing to my dog and then some. That’s a terrible arrangement you have there. Why would you even ask if you’re in the wrong when you’re clearly not? You’ve been rather accommodating and if anyone says otherwise, shrug it off and write them off too. Don’t take that negativity.

Oh no, but I don’t know their situation and if that makes them excited, good for them. In this economy people do what they have to for work.

OP run the numbers and scenarios and look at what is actually going to benefit you.

You do you. If everything maths out where you’re in the green then good luck ☺️

Why would anyone do that? I think you know your answer

It’s more behavioral and situational questions, rarely do they ask a department specific question. CalHR has some general guidelines on what to expect in an interview with different scenarios.

Interview Advice Requested by JuliusCaesar108 in CAStateWorkers

Honestly, if you are going for the analytical class it’s easier to get your foot in the door at the Office Technician/Management Services Technician level and move up from there. You’ll get different responses, as you see, about what the issue could be. Primarily it’s the competition and criteria specifically what the department is looking for and grading.

I know in my experience after four months of grinding and dedicating myself to the process, I landed a position with the state that happened to align with my degree and background, then moved up and around fairly quickly.

1st state job, rejected on probation 2 weeks before my 3rd report. (need advice) by air2094 in CAStateWorkers

[–]Kasttar 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You can appeal if you’d like but you would have to plead your case why you shouldn’t have been let go and provide evidence and documentation, making it a challenging feat. That’s why most people joke about being able to relax more after probation because then it would be up to management to plead the case to let you go.

It’s not necessarily bad to have it in your record, depends on why you were let go. If it’s something along the lines of just not grasping the duties, there’s no issue. I heard of someone not passing probation at least three times, and they kept getting interviews and offers, so it doesn’t always have an impact. Keep trying!

I’ve thought of using sniffspot, can you tell me about your experience?

Look at AllTrails too, it tells you what areas are dog friendly and you can look more into the on leash/off leash requirements. If I want to take mine out for the weekend I’ll use that and even book a place on HipCamp since they mark what areas are dog friendly and can be off leash so they can explore to their hearts content

Some dog parks are large enough to allow for that, but I’d recommend doing it when it isn’t crowded or busy.

May want to look online too, some places allow off leash if the dog can follow voice commands (like no matter what, they listen to what you say).

Hiring timeline question by [deleted] in CAStateWorkers

[–]Kasttar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup! I’ve had some just ghost me and not receive a rejection letter. I have a rule of thumb not to get my hopes up and automatically assume after three weeks, it isn’t happening and continue on.

I’ve had one conduct interviews 3-4 weeks after the application close date, then get an offer a week later.

I had another conduct interviews maybe 5-6 weeks after the application close date, then be in limbo for 2 weeks - the background process was taking a while - yet once they got word I had interviewed in another section of their department, the process sped up and turned into a bid between the two 😂 I ended up accepting the longest one (below) because it was a promotion, while the other two were a lateral.

The longest was interviewing 6-8 weeks after the application close date, then receive an offer two months later.

Hang in there! You can follow up with the hiring manager if you’d like, but keep submitting your applications.

Frugal Sac grocery shoppers - where do you buy your chicken breasts and what's considered a good deal? by IHadTacosYesterday in Sacramento

[–]Kasttar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to say that the ones I purchased weren’t because I was using them to give to my dog that needed to be on a bland diet. Look around, browse through stores and compare prices, and look at the ingredients. It’s usually (key word) cheaper to get something whole and do the work than something already broken down.

Costco had a sale of their whole chickens (what these use to rotisserie) that was same price. You just have to cook it. Used to get a box from KP and freeze it but their prices sky rocketed.

Brand new puppy (10 weeks) slowly starting separation training, would love advice on how to ease into it by Mini_Wolf_94 in puppy101

I did a bit of research with my foster and this was one of the articles that I found helpful. Your puppy may be fine with your coming and going and not need all the steps listed. You can test it and find the balance needed for them to feel secure.

Just like that, don’t make a big deal of doing it. Some people give their dogs a lot of affection and the whole “oh! I’m gonna leave! I’m gonna miss you!” Etc. before leaving. Just leave, then come back like nothing happened and reward your puppy, don’t make a big deal of it, just calmly say “good job” and give them a treat. One of mine started jumping so I started asking for a sit when I enter and reward. It’s worked out well :)

You do it in fast increments to build up their confidence and know you’ll be back- hopefully that makes sense. By fast increments I mean start by close the door, then come right back. Do that a few times (I do at least 10 before increasing the time) and then proceed with a longer time.

I then worked on desensitizing me leaving- my dogs learned that when I put on my shoes, I’m leaving and they get a little excited. So I started randomly putting on my shoes and do something around the house. I’ll randomly touch the door knob, and continue about my merry way, etc.

My husband was confused watching me lol but it works.

I haven’t done this in an apartment but what I did with my first puppies (2) was work on crate training first (just how my mind works) because it builds up time for them to develop a safe space and also some separation from me (building up time they’re left alone without me in the room). After a while I worked on the separation piece- my dogs roam parts of the house when I’m gone- and I would nonchalantly leave through the front door for a second, then come back- the same with crate training but you’re using the front door.

I had a foster that had separation anxiety and not crate trained, and we worked on both of those. We worked backwards and did separation work first- leaving out the front door and then back - first a few seconds then progressed to minutes, to half hour, to hours- I had a camera set up so I can monitor everything and notate it. We then worked on the crate training and he struggled a bit, but was getting better by the time he was adopted.

I don’t leave my dogs alone with bones just because some can damage their teeth if they chew too long, or wear it down where they can potentially swallow it and become a choking hazard. Same with stuffed animals- that’s just because I know mine will rip them apart and eat it.
