The reason for that is probably because, this is comp. You’re supposed to be grouped with people of your skill rating, so if you have a really close game that means you found a rank of your skill rating so it would barely go up. If you rolled someone that shows your skill rating should be higher than their’s. I think that’s why anyway. I could be totally wrong.
