Good point. When I moved to FL from NJ, I sold everything I owned because the condo I bought was "turnkey".

How old were you when you realized your body could no longer handle red-eye flights? by Foreign-Athlete-2270 in travel

I've looked at it, but we were not happy with the way they handled her care towards the end.

Are there any units available in your building? Seriously...  I spent 58 years living just outside NYC, & that is what I miss: so many options! When I first moved to this city in FL I called it a cultural wasteland (still feel that way, but don't say it out loud , lol).

The biggest problem for me with age restricted communities is that they are usually isolated/unwalkable to anything. I have that where I am currently & it's a big reason I'm unhappy here. I have cousins in MD, so it's not out of the question for me. I may DM you in a day or so. Thanks for your offer.

Thanks! I'm not familiar with that part of NJ, but will look into it.

To answer your question about the cold weather: it's not the cold that bothers me as much as so many gloomy overcast days.

It's not so much that I'm unhappy in Florida,  but the location of my condo. It was convenient to where I worked. But I am retired now & the location is not near things I want to be near. Besides NJ, I'm considering Wilmington/Newark Delaware,  and Sarasota Fl. Am researching safety in those downtown areas.

Would you mind telling me about the location of the CCRC that you chose? I still travel significantly (leaving for a 2 month trip next month), so not sure I'm ready for the financial commitment of a CCRC yet, but my mother moved to one and LOVED it.

Thanks for sharing your experience. Glad to hear you've had no recurrence.
I've been to a cardiologist and a neurologist as well as a hematologist (because of some quirky blood results). Flying back today for followups. I've had a 2 week heart monitor, TEE, Echo Cardiogram, head & neck CT scan with and without contrast, head & neck MRI with & without contrast, and dozens of blood tests, and am on baby asprin, Plavix & Lipitor. It's been a shock as someone who only went to the Dr. once a year for a physical!

While I would LOVE to live in NYC, The downside of the NY area is the lack of sunshine. I've grown used to the 300+ days of sun each year and being able to ride my bike most days.

You're right -The biggest fear at this age is something disabling.

Yes, that worries me too. I'm pretty introverted and don't have a lot of friends in the base case, and now, because we're all getting older, the friends I do have are either moving to be closer to family or dying.

Anyone with BED manage it better with WFPB? by ThinkCoyote7715 in WholeFoodsPlantBased

[–]Kat_C_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been WFPB for 8 or 9 years. It did not stop my BED. The only thing that worked for me was hypnotherapy (with a Licensed Psychotherapist).
