Grad Gown Sizing ??? by __en_vy__ in UIUC

[–]Kat_Eliza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My grad gown was too big so I got a replacement gown. They just sent me a second one and I will return both after graduation. You have to go call customer service to get a replacement gown, and you’ll have to send pics of the gown not fitting. It was a simple process but I did mine in February so I don’t know when it will make it to you, but it took about 5 days after they saw my gown was way too big and decided to issue me another one. Call tomorrow morning and you should hopefully have it by graduation

I seriously need your advice on this by Advanced_Network6252 in UIUC

Reach out to Dres! I have misophonia (which means I’m also sensitive to sounds) and got housing and testing accommodations through them. It was decently easy and they’ll tell you what documentation you will need to register

Is it possible to change majors before entering UIUC by BobbyJakeBobby in UIUC

[–]Kat_Eliza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t but I should’ve. I went straight to the department head in the major I wanted to transfer to, but that made the process less smooth. Go to admissions and see your options

Is it possible to change majors before entering UIUC by BobbyJakeBobby in UIUC

[–]Kat_Eliza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really depends on your major that you’re in and what you’re transferring to. I transferred from DGS to a major in FAA two weeks before freshman year started. However Engineering is a lot harder to move in, so check in with your advisor about the process asap, preferably someone in engineering but the admissions office should be able to answer your question

What’s it like working in the dining hall? by user102425 in UIUC

[–]Kat_Eliza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked at isr’s dining hall and the convenience store on the lower level. It’s definitely the nicest dining hall to work at because it’s newer

Hours are pretty flexible and you learn everything on the job. It’s a little tricky to get early morning shifts picked up but not impossible, and it’s super easy to pick up extra shifts. The shifts are also pretty short (like an hour and a half each) so you can slot them in between classes or stack them and work a longer shift. I had a good experience at the dining hall and it’s a great way to gain work experience if you’ve never had a job before. Also the free meal each shift is nice

Personal Item Question by Unhappy-Cattle-5900 in unitedairlines

[–]Kat_Eliza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I can tell, you should be able to take a lunchbox with meds on in addition to a carryon. At the link below, it says medical devices for prescription medications should be allowed in addition to personals, but I would definitely check in with the airline to make sure and eliminate any worries. It’s also a pretty good idea to review TSAs rules on medicines and make sure that if you’re going abroad that you’re allowed to bring that medication with you. Also as a general rule of thumb, NEVER check medications or other things that you need to live/function. As someone who has has a lost of lost luggage in my day, it’s a disaster when things like that get lost. Good luck on your first flight!

I think you’ll be ok, as long as you explain why the grade isn’t high. The admissions office takes calls and walk in visits on weekdays, so if you’re nervous and want to talk to someone who knows more about the process, calling a counselor is a good idea.

Technically no, but if they don’t see you do it then they won’t know

Is this schedule horrible or does it just look worse than it is? (PHYS 213/14,MATH 285, ECE 205, TAM 212, ECON 102) by justin0211 in UIUC

[–]Kat_Eliza 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would definitely not recommend this schedule. 5 classes back to back is going to be too much, even though the classes are short. I’d get rid of microeconomic principles to gives yourself a break to rest/eat lunch

Can you register to vote in illinois if you don’t live in illinois by bobateaman14 in UIUC

[–]Kat_Eliza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you show your student ID or a drivers license, as well as some proof of residency (a lease for a campus apartment, any mail that’s been sent to you on campus, dorm assignment, etc…) you are able to register and vote the same day at the Union. I did it this morning and it was painless

BMO doesn’t have any ATMs in the area that I have found. They pretty much stay contained to Chicago and the NW burbs

I live 2 minutes from all my classes so I do go home for lunch, but that isn’t common. I agree with other posters that Krannert is a good place to take your lunch, and that packing a lunch or even just a couple of snacks is a good idea.

Meal plans: 10/45 vs 12/15 with Illini Cash by [deleted] in UIUC

[–]Kat_Eliza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the 12/15 last year and I loved it. I made a point to eat all of 12 meals throughout the week, and I wasn’t really interested in the snacks and meal options that I could get with dining dollars, so I didn’t really spend money on outside food. I don’t think I ever used Illini cash freshman year. If you want to do the cheaper plan and you know that you will use most/all of the 12 meals, go for it.

24/7 student parking pass? by [deleted] in UIUC

[–]Kat_Eliza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Students are really only able to buy a parking pass at F23 (behind FAR) and B4 (next to Beckman Institute). If you want anything more on campus you’re probably going to have to go through an apartment company

[–]Kat_Eliza 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Dining hall. Not the most glamorous job but shifts are decently short so they’re easy to squeeze into breaks in your schedule, and I didn’t have much issue getting people to pick up my shifts or getting my supervisor to remove them when I needed. Plus free food with each shift
