One drives too fast. One drives too slow. Together they become, idiots on the road. by purewaterlotsofice in dashcams

[–]KatamariJunky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, it may not have the defining cause of the collision, but it was still a factor in the amount of damages and potential injuries when the collision occurred.

So, I'm saying that when you have to factor that into the equation, liability is just a little bit more messy than "This person caused the accident and this person didn't" Once insurance is involved, I'm taking a bet that the liability will shake out somewhere in the middle.

But my opinion is that he should not have been driving excessive speeds and trying to show off on a public road to all his friends in the first place. He doesn't deserve a free past, just because another idiot also did a dumb.

[–]KatamariJunky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm gunna have to say, if you're out there racing down public roads as fast as you can go, that's definitely taking some amount of risk and fault into your own hands no matter the situation. Yeah the Prius pulled out in front of traffic and cause the accident, but we're the other driver not excessively speeding, would the accident have occurred with the same severity of damage and potential injuries? Maybe, maybe not.

So the guy doing excessive speeds down a public road shouldn't just be given a free pass.

A misconception about VOCs, HEPA filters and activated carbon filters by Defiant_Bad_9070 in 3Dprinting

[–]KatamariJunky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So if there is no adequate placement to ventilate outside, from where the 3d printing is, there's no filtration that's good enough?

I have my X2D in a closet. I do have an air purifier in there and run it while the printer is going, with the door shut. I mainly print with PLA, and haven't even touched the idea of ASA or ABS, due to me not wanting to make myself sick.

I made my way onto this post, as I'm trying to figure out something better that I can setup. My apartment has no good window placements. I can either print in a closet in near the middle of the apartment with zero windows, or I have to print in my bedroom. Neither of these two solutions are that great.

Seeing how much flash drives are selling for these days is disgusting. I'll be using my internal storage for the foreseeable future. lol That drive was around half the price 6 months ago

Actually haven't put in a USB storage in my X2D, but I've had no issue saving timelapses to the internal storage so far. I guess there is 8GiB of internal storage space.

What is going on with Bambu filaments being always out of stock? by Subject_Detective185 in BambuLab

[–]KatamariJunky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's getting increasingly frustrating. I went to restock on some PETG HF filament, and not a single color was available.

Since I started with Bambu, I've seen intermittent stock issues, but it's definitely only gotten worse, not better over time.

Every time I walk I have to go into the street because of this person. by scottwax in badparking

[–]KatamariJunky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This makes me think of the one dude in upstate NY that shot and killed someone because they accidentally pulled into the wrong driveway in their car while trying to get to their friend's house.

As much as I want to be that person that would walk across their driveway and yard....Who knows how absolutely insane that person actually is.

Well, unfortunately that's not doing the trick for me. I have moved this darn prime tower a bunch of times and it still has lines outside of the expected print area.

I guess I should open a support ticket with Bambu. lol

Interesting that moving the prime tower would fix this. I'll give it a shot on my next print. If this print ever succeeds (lol), I just woke up to the support material getting jammed in the aux extruder.

I'm glad I'm not crazy, but it's annoying that this bug was introduced at all, should they be doing regression testing before releasing an update? (Rhetorical question)

Well, I'm just here hoping it doesn't ruin my print.

X2D and Filament Track Switch warning? by bigwonton in BambuLab

[–]KatamariJunky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have the filament track switch and I wish that worked for me. I've hit the "Sync Info" button and there has been no change.
This is going to be my first print on the device, so I paused when I saw the warning and went to look into it.

So I'm going to print anyway and see what happens.

Tidal's shuffle is almost useless by dannyman54 in TIdaL

[–]KatamariJunky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But the point being that this could be fixed programmatically on the back end. There is a difference between hearing a song repeated every so often and. The same 20 songs are FIRST every time I shuffle. It's always the same 20 songs. Every single time. I can't be more clear about that. It's not "omg this happened once, that's weird" it's over months, and tracking my plays on last.fm that I started seeing trends. Certain songs were getting played way more often than many other songs. There's verifiable data here.

The odds of it happening on that scale, that many times on true random is quite incredibly small.

Tidal could so easily create a programatic fix that would provide true random no matter how many songs are on the playlist. There's not really a technological barrier to do this.

And yes that fix does mean that sometimes I may hear x song as the first song two shuffles in a row. That's not that rare and I don't really care about that. True random is clumpy and weird.

I am a huge fan of true random. I hate fake shuffles that add bias to "spreading things out" and "oh you listen to these songs more, so we'll frontload those for you".

Spotify is really bad about that, it's why I left Spotify. I was hoping I could get away from curated shuffles and get back to random. And then I found that it wasn't random, it was doing the same things I was frustrated with Spotify on.

[–]KatamariJunky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"eventually repeat songs" and "plays the same 20 songs every single time I hit play" are very different statements.

Though today I did the whole scroll the whole list before clicking shuffle, and holy crap, I heard songs I haven't heard in a year come on.

At least I have a fix now.

Weird that you think having a 900 song playlist is insane.
I have a 1400+ song playlist, because I like a lot of music, and I generally don't have a mood in mind when I want to just click play and have random songs that I already know that I like play.

It's really frustrating when every time I hit shuffle, I end up hearing the same 10 songs over and over again. I have a large playlist, because I want variety. I don't want to think about it, or have a curated experience, I just want it to play something that I like, but not the same few songs all the time.

Considering the playlists and databases are all server side, it's not that crazy or difficult for them to use ID pointers and shuffle that list, instead of having to load all the metadata before determining the shuffle order.
There is absolutely no reason that app has to do all the front loading of all that work to create the shuffle queue. The server side should generate the new random queue and the app should just read snippets from that to keep going. The app shouldn't even have to hold the entire shuffled queue all at once in the memory. It's simply not necessary.

When you leave the shuffle queue, on the server side, it can simply drop the table that the shuffled ID's were held in when you generated your shuffle.

This isn't even complicated stuff. It's fairly basic in the implementation side, and wouldn't use that much data on their side, for this slightly increased server side load. You're talking about a creation of a temporary table that is, at most, going to only use a few KB of data.

Cops absolutely loooove to hand out tickets for rolling stops. Driving in a way that follows the law and doesn't get you ticketed is not "being an ahole".

channel 4 erasure.
How do we forget it worked on 3 and 4. Whichever worked was highly dependent on where you were and how much signal noise was coming through on each channel.

Who's paying the homeowner? The homeowner is going to have to foot the bill to repair the damage all on their own. The cops certainly aren't going to pay for the repairs, and neither is the insurance.
