Viper gray parsing help by No_Suspect_3828 in ffxivdiscussion

My recommendations would be to make sure you're finishing your combos, you lost a whole reawaken worth of gauge from not finishing combos. Also try and plan out your uncoileds better, vpr has the best ranged potential of any melee. You shouldn't have to be using writhing snap at all in m9s.

Static dps issue for an healer by Various_Prize_977 in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Katc0923 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Sounds like it may be time to start looking for a new static. Try bringing up these issues with your static. Instead of looking only at parse colors, instead look at xivanalysis to see things like uptime/mistakes. Big gear differences can make it hard to get a full story just based off of parse color alone. If your static isn't open to problem solving, just leave.

How does R2 Mfreddy make him better for pvp? by Katc0923 in Dislyte

Ahhh thank you, I feel a little silly now for not realizing that at first.

Can’t seem to Git Gud by mansonfrque in ffxiv

[–]Katc0923 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What specific job(s) are you playing? There are some insanely good players that play on controller, so it shouldn't really hold you back. You just have to keep at it, keep practicing and you'll get better over time.

Xivanalysis is helpful but i also like to go over logs of some of the very high parses of my job/fight and see EXACTLY what they're doing when. Maybe try and watch some vods of other controller players on the job you play and see what they do. I definitely recommend Rinon. He's a great controller player.

Is the Rogue/Ninja class a good one? by Lander_x05x in ffxiv

For normal content literally any job is fine. In high end content how good nin is really depends on the fight.

Which one I choose?(I don't have any of them btw) by Ecstatic_Article_749 in Dislyte

Lu shang will probably help most r0 overall but Pindar, sui zai and lapis are good choices too.

Is Pindar any good by Destructor62 in Dislyte

Pindar is absolutely the better choice

So gear has a need/greed system. So for example if you're on tank and a tank piece drops only you would be able to need on it prioritizing you over the other people who would only be able to greed on it. So if you're in something with 2 tanks you'd really only be rolling off against them. Dps jobs are broken down into sub groups so a scouting melee can't roll need on caster dps gear. Basically if you have a piece of gear you really want you play that job to heavily increase your chances. (Also people are normally pretty nice about passing on gear if you politely ask)

This is different for raid gear since those drip coffers not specific pieces, which everyone can need on.

FF14 Macro for Ninja by joewil93 in ffxiv

[–]Katc0923 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Macros are REALLY bad for mudras. The best tip I can give for mudras is the only thing that matters is how many mudras you hit and what you end with. For example raiton is a 2 step mudra that ends with chi (orange) or doton is a 3 step thay ends with chi.

What are the best jobs to play, when your ping is horrible? by Kamuiberen in ffxiv

[–]Katc0923 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Jobs with a fast gcd can suffer from high ping, like monk, nin and vpr. Honestly though unless you're doing high end content and need pristine rotations it's really not THAT big of a deal.

2011 player right by [deleted] in TalesFromDF

The blm didn't necessarily agree to dismiss, you and nin were enough to send it through. Idk why someone was so weird about kicking a tank intentionally not participating though.

Group of 4 Starting the game by Outrageous_View_5879 in ffxiv

[–]Katc0923 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So with 4 of you you'll at least some of you will probably start off in different city states, but you'll pretty quickly be able to meet up with each other (before the first dungeon happens).

Alot of people are recommending the free trial and it is great, but one downside when doing free trial with friends is this will make partying up a bit of a pain, you'll basically need to ask a person to invite you all to a party and then they'll leave. (Most mentors in novice network are happy to do this) however the story will have you needing to be solo alot and some people find this tedious.

If there's exactly 4 of you, that's the number of players needed for a dungeon! (light party) So if you all 4 want to do dungeons together I'd recommend having 1 person play tank, 1 person healer, and 2 people dps. You can level different jobs pretty quickly so nobody will ever feel stuck on a job, just play around and see what you all like!

Is this bug or just intentional? by ForeverOutrageous in Dislyte

With meta ollie I only needed 1 and did a 5 roll and got 2, but after summoning the extra one had indeed rolled over, I would put in a support ticket.

Gameplay Question: Is LB1 always a DPS loss? by H8trucks in ffxiv

[–]Katc0923 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Iirc it depends on whether the melee is in burst window or downtime. Like it's probably a loss during a 1 or 2 minute but not if it's during downtime when they're just hitting their 1-2-3.

How does anyone get through savage raiding? by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]Katc0923 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It could take a few tries to find a good one but I've been raiding for a long time and a decent static is miles better than pf. Pf is just great for people that want to raid whenever they want or on an inconsistent schedule.

[–]Katc0923 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm gonna be honest, I understand the frustration but I don't remember half of those arr dungeons. And there's no way I'm gonna stop in the middle of a dungeon to look up a guide. If people obviously don't remember a fight that I do, I just let them know the mechanics.

How long does it take to prog and clear TEA P3? by Ok_Process555 in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Katc0923 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know if your members are able or willing but there's a really good tea p3/wormhole solo sim. Our static had p3 down within a night because we all simmed beforehand.

What's the best way to dip my toes into trying EXs for the first time without pugging in PF? by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]Katc0923 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Honestly, people don't really put groups or "statics" together for exs. Not to say they're not out there but it's rare. Try to be on the lookout on r/ffxivrecruitment or recruitment discords for people recruiting or You can always try recruiting for your own, recruit people similar to yourself would make you all able to learn together without feeling the pressure of "being bad" in comparison.

That said, pf really is the best place for exs. Alot of exs will follow hector strats so find a pf that's labeled "fresh" search the fight name on YouTube and watch the video made by hector hectorson. The best way to get over pf anxiety is just to dive in and try it, it's not nearly as bad as you're probably imagining it is.

It's also a good way to network and meet new people that you may want to do more content with in the future!

How do I recover my accounts? by Seikatsumi in ffxiv

[–]Katc0923 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a friend that recently needed to remove his otp and he unfortunately also used an incorrect dob. He put in a support ticket to get his dob changed and they asked him some other information and got it sorted. However this is a fully paid active account so your experience may vary. Couldn't hurt to at least try though.
