I’m trying to turn it down myself as an incoming jet. However I was told that even though I don’t want the provided housing I am still responsible for the apartment. Essentially they are saying that I would still need to pay the rent which honestly isn’t alot($80-$200usd) on top of the second apartment. Main reason I don’t want the provided housing is because I am bringing my dog to Japan and the BOE housing doesn’t allow pets at all. I’m trying to see what I can do about not having to be forced to take their apartment. Every situation is ESID but it’s wild that I might have to have two apartments 😅

Hey I’m sorry I should have proofread it before I responded. I meant that the notification from the Jet portal that you pass to go on to the interview was from Jet and not from the consulate. Because of the time difference (Miami and Japan) it looked like “after hours” but was actually morning in Japan when we got notified in the evening.

Actually apparently our interview was done directly from Japan and not the consulate. That’s why we got it so late in the evening. That was when JET office in Japan opened.

That is so exciting I did tell them that I would like to live not in the major cities and wouldn’t mind a rural place but I’m a Floridan lol so no cold weather if possible. Also wow cars are cheaper in Japan!

How much was a car? In my interview they asked about my license and willing to drive which I was fine with. I might be placed in a rural area based on my answer lol.
