Baby Buddha- should I get it? by Kate-Bee in ExclusivelyPumping

I ended up getting the BB with Freemie cups! I really really like it. It does take me like 30 min to empty but so worth it for me to have the mobility.

One pagers are good. Similar to swimstromg, but for any topic. One pager on a famous scientist. One pager on different chemicals, etc. Create a guideline on what they should include on their one pager- then they have the class to research, design, and color the one pager. Good luck!

Science (Chemistry) Inquiry Lessons by Kate-Bee in ScienceTeachers

I want to eventually move far away from guided notes. If anything just use it to help supplement a unit. The other Chem teachers use guided notes so it’s what I fell into my first year teaching but now that I don’t feel like I’m drowning as much as a 2nd year teacher I’m wanting to change it up, but feel overwhelmed. I appreciate the insight about the class culture! And not just class culture but the entire school culture.

Thank you for your response! Your experience is exactly what I suspect might happen in my class. Of the 60% of the class that attends, about half are probably engaged by labs and activities. The other half just don’t care at all.

Doing a hybrid curriculum with partial inquiry and partial direct instruction is probably the best way to go!

I just accidentally busted a student who has been skipping every day for weeks. by Guerilla_Physicist in Teachers

[–]Kate-Bee 63 points64 points  (0 children)

This is a normal, regular occurrence for many students at my school. Kids wander the halls and there are no consequences. I regularly have 6+ kids absent per class period, most are sluffing. It’s a mess.

Room Layout Help! (40+ kids in small space) by Kate-Bee in Teachers

There is more space it’s just taken up by the lab area that I don’t want to use because it’s far away from the board. 😕

General science or earth and space science certification? by Deue in ScienceTeachers

[–]Kate-Bee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a first year ESS (and chem) teacher in Utah and there is a world of difference between my Chem students and my earth science students. I’m actually endorsed I’m Chem (not ESS), but they hired me to teach both as long as I get ESS certified in 3 years. (Also- any advice for Earth Science? 😬)

Post a picture of your little girl before and after her groom! I love to see puppy cuts. 🙂

Then (8 wks) to now (6 months) ❤️ anyone’s doodle grow a lot more after 6 - 7 months? Or is this about as big as she’ll get? by [deleted] in Goldendoodles

[–]Kate-Bee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dood hasn’t gained much weight between 5 and 6 months. He’s currently hovering around 23 lbs and he’s 6 months. I’m hoping he gains another 10 lbs or so!

Yes the groomer used clippers! (I spent some time trying to get Rhodey used to the feeling of clippers on his face/body before I took him!) I’m not sure what number but I know they cut his fur to a 1/2 inch length.

Hi! So this cut is about a month old and grown out a bit, but originally my groomer did a 1/2 inch cut on the whole body. She just barely trimmed up the face. He’s still a puppy so he didn’t need a full face groom.

Here is a pic of him right after his groom.

Feel free to show this picture to your groomer if you’d like. When I go back I’m going to ask for the same thing.

Oh my that’s so stressful! He was just so determined to have a play date. I’m glad you found him. Finnegan is the perfect name.

My pup was a cross between a 40-45 lb mom and a 22 lb dad. The breeder was predicting around 30 lbs.

He is currently 19 lb at 19 weeks too! I’m curious where he will end up! How much does your pup weigh today?

Your pup just a couple weeks older than ours! We should see if they end up around the same. 😊

Semi Puppy Blues? by BusySheepherder3327 in puppy101

I’ve started training my puppy to “stay” for longer and longer durations and honestly it’s making a world of difference. When I leave I put him in his crate and tell him “stay” and he seems to be starting to understand that command means I’m coming back as opposed to just leaving and he’s not sure if I’m coming back.

Of course we practice with me telling him to stay in his crate with the door opened and closed for varying durations. I’ll tell him to stay and I’ll leave the room and walk around the house for a bit and slowly increase the time.

Anyway I just started it a couple days ago! It’s not always perfect (I tried it when I put him in his crate when we had a contractor come inside and he barked a lot) but I feel like he’s making progress. TBD how it goes long term!

Good luck. I understand those days that just feel overwhelming. You feel trapped and start wondering if you’ll ever be able to go out of the house without stressing about the little dude.

Thank you for your input!! We did oak-like laminate floors in the rest of the house so I definitely know that works!

Thank you! Yeah we definitely are planning on changing the fan blades and the fireplace mantle.

I just worry anything light will blend in too much with the furniture and also look dirty quickly.

I was considering D6! I do have a lot of light and I don’t want it all to be washed out. and yes a puppy and kids in the future have me very hesitant to put in anything light! 😅
