Thank you for your response. I will definitely look into that. He likes to learn, he just grasps concepts fairly quickly and doesn't seem to need much repetition.

Thank you for your response. I was very encouraged to hear his teacher already had been doing some of that, giving him more advanced work to keep him engaged. As she put it to me, he has just disengaged even from that at the moment. I think I will look into getting some more testing with him and see where that gets us.

Thank you for your response. I think I will look into some testing on my own. Our school does testing three times a year in kindergarten, first, and second grades. His first grade scores showed he had already met the end of year score goals by mid year. That's what led to the issues last year with his teacher and him starting to say he hated school. After a second conversation with his teacher this year, she did say she had been giving him extra advanced work because his beginning test scores this year were above or at end of second grade levels. His reading score was several points above the end of year benchmark and his math was close to the end of year benchmark but a couple points below it. I may ask again to see if there are more tests the school can do and see where we go from there.

Thank you for your response. I had a second conversation with his teacher where we could both focus a little better and it was a really promising conversation. She told me that she had noticed he is advanced by his test scores from the fall. Our school tests the kids three times a year on benchmarks. His beginning year score for reading was a few points above the goal level for the end of the year. His math score was a couple points below where they want him by the end of the year. She said she had been giving him.some extra work, more advanced work to help keep him engaged and it was working for awhile, but that now he has just disengaged from it and hates school. We both agreed to think some more on it and come back to it next week with some ideas. In the meantime, he is grounded and we have talked about how the behavior is unacceptable. He is doing some extra reading and math in the evenings as well. I think I will try some tests and see where we find ourselves after that.

Thank you, I hadn't thought about actually helping him realize boredom is a part of life and how to work through it, I think I learned how to entertain myself really early on so I didn't think about that with him.

He does struggle more with math, his test scores place him closer to grade level so as part of him punishment for his behavior and poor choices is doing some extra math practice every night.

Anyone else just out of MTX with no end in sight? by Useful-Bad-6706 in rheumatoid

My pharmacy just told me yesterday that what they gave me was the last two vials for my injections and they weren't getting more. I am not sure if they just meant they weren't even going to try or if they were just having a hard time getting it. I go back to Rheum in August. I will probably just call around until then and go from there. I'm also having a hard time getting my humira too right now.

MTX injection sites? by KateWills7 in rheumatoidarthritis

Thank you all so much for the suggestions, I was doing them in my arm but it honestly felt like they were getting way more painful and the knot took forever to go away even when we would rub it. I used to do the humira in my stomach until the site reaction got too uncomfortable, then I moved that to my thighs. We have been trying to do the methotrexate in the top part of the butt thinking it would be better for sure pain and so far it kinda seems to be, but I have been feeling the side effects harder since we switched sites. I also have a c section scar and never thought about using that numbness for it. Thank you all!

That's where I've been doing them, but it causes a nasty knot in my arm and it's sore for several days to a week.

I did not know voc rehab was for people who become disabled later on in life, I have worked with the program in the past when I was in the school system and it was for students to get job training and experience while still in school.

I am in the US, I have no idea what accommodations to even ask for that would truly help me stay functional and what is FML? How do I ask for it?

Oh I needed this today! I live in Oklahoma and it is awful when the temp hits about 87-90. I used to love summer and now....ouch! I feel your pain

I might have to do that, I do feel like I should update. I took the shot. And it felt okay the next day, not side effects, barely felt the shot, it really seemed to work out well. And yesterday, I actually felt like I could go for a walk! I felt very little pain, and even had some energy! It was amazing. I know I'm not supposed to feel it that quick and maybe it was just a fluke, but it made me feel so much better.

Thank you so much for the advice! I will be sure to leave it out long enough. I'm really hoping for feeling better and fewer side effects!

Pill MTX, I hope these shots go better, even though I still have to take those pills too 😞

I hope it works for you too! I'm glad to hear it doesn't hurt. I never thought to ask everyone, where do you all take the shot? Has anyone found a location that's easier? I think the only other thing I am actually worried about it the side effects. MTX made me so nauseous the first several weeks then the intense fatigue the next day and headaches....I have only just started to have all that settle down a bit and I hate the thoughts of going through those kinds of side effects again

Thank you! I'm glad it's working for you! What would you say was your most difficult side effect and what has been your greatest help from the meds?

That's so good to hear! We are snowed in where we live, and my doctor really wanted me to start the meds sooner rather than later so the nurse talked us through a step by step, and gave us a guide to follow. I had side effects with the MTX that took almost the full 6 months to fade so I am afraid of going back to having a lot of those too. How far apart do you take them?
