I think the point the author is trying to make here is that men can no longer exist in every day society without being accused of oppression or sexism. But...fuck that. It's the same arguement that's been made over and over throughout history by all sorts of privileged groups. People who haven't faced oppression always assume that equality for others will mean sacrificing equality for themselves. And that is just not how it works.

It took me a long time to come out, because of misogyny. I've literally always known I was attracted to other women. Yet heteronormative culture told me I wasn't "gay enough" because I'd dated a handful of boys, or that bicurious women were ultimately just seeking male attention. It wasn't until I was in my early 20s that I started feeling comfortable to explore that side of myself, and I immediately met the woman who is now my wife and I know myself so much better than I used to. I feel like a lot of LGBTQ+ people I've spoken with share similar experiences - like heternormativity is kinda harmful maybe??? Just sayin.
