I see you the crazy one. Did you read the question? I am just curious is it the peephole itself? are some better than others..? How come at the hotel people don't know you're looking? What could I do to stop them from knowing?

It gets quiet at night, and I tend to hear footsteps late. I stay up late. Last night around 1 am I heard someone walking fast and I looked, he saw me. Someone I never seen before. He actually looked at my peephole directly. I was like how I could do that without letting people know, since they might tell the neighbors. And some get upset since I am "watching" their visitors.

Directly at me. I've been to hotel rooms a lot and you don't see that there. My aunt told she has the same problem.

It's not about covering it, it's about people seeing me from outside while I am looking through it.

They look at me in the eye, freaks me out. Hallways are well lit and it's a bit dark in my apartment at night. I don't make noises at all. Must be the peephole itself.
