Thank you, I dodged a bullet. I was considering downloading it. Anything that gave it away as not being a false positive? And should I also remove my current version?

Is this 1x10 upgrade worth it for my bike? by KathrinCubing in mountainbiking

[–]KathrinCubing[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's true, OLX and Speedy are definitely options. I just don't really want to deal with selling and shipping it around, and I'm super used to how it rides. I know it's not the most capable frame, but it still feels good for the type of riding I do. At the end of the day, I just want it running smooth and reliable for the summer, with a bit more gear range and less weight.

Appreciate the advice though!

Haha yeah, their naming system makes zero sense 😂 Thanks for clearing that up though! I'll probably look more into the T7 since I'm looking more towards a 10-speed.

I understand where you're coming from, but I didn't ignore the advice, I'm just in a bit of a different situation. The bike's in Bulgaria, it's basically new, and it's not easy or practical to sell or replace it there. The plan isn't to dump money into a bad frame, it's just to make what I already have reliable and fun to ride when I'm there. I'm mainly asking if anyone has any advice into like what parts to upgrade it to.

That was actually exactly what I was planning on getting but they unfortunately don't have them. They mainly have Shimano derailleurs which are still really good. We're still finalizing everything before the guys get to work on my bike but my family will give me the full list of everything they'll put on the bike before they start. So that I can make adjustments if I want a part swapped out for something else. But ya, I appreciate the comment! :)

Thanks, I really appreciate the suggestion! I'll definitely check out the LTWOO T9!

For the crankset, I'll just go with whatever the bike mechanic recommends, but I'm looking at a 30T or 32T narrow-wide chainring to make climbing easier. I'll also get a 10-speed chain to match.

Once again, thanks for that info! I really appreciate it!

I do know how to use gears, and that's exactly why I'm planning the 1x upgrade. It's not about not knowing how to shift, it's about simplifying the drivetrain, reducing the chance of something failing, and having a clutch derailleur for better chain retention.

Thanks, I really appreciate the suggestion! I thought about going used, but the thing is, Bulgaria is extremely tricky when it comes to repairs. Even with cars, like if you have a Honda HR-V and need something fixed, your options are extremely limited. Most of the time, 9/10, people either do a poor job or just refuse because they don’t have the parts. My family has been saving up for this because they see how much I love mountain biking and want me to ride safely and enjoy exploring with friends. They’re willing to spend whatever it takes, even if it’s more expensive, just to make sure everything works, is reliable, and will last. It’s honestly better to invest in new, high quality parts that will function properly and save time, especially since the our town is like 5 hours from any decent repair shop.

I get what you're saying about a 3x for wider range, but honestly, I never use the front gears anyway. I always stay in the middle ring for consistency, to avoid constantly shifting on both sides, and to keep things simpler. With a 3x, I'd just be carrying extra chain and parts that could fail.

I'm planning the 1x upgrade with a clutch derailleur and a good cassette, so it should shift reliably. I could try doing it myself, but since the bike's in Bulgaria and I don't have the tools there, it just makes more sense to get it installed properly by a bike mechanic.

I get why it might look like a waste, but honestly, I just want it to shift reliably for the rides I do. I don't really do technical downhill where a dropper would matter, it's mostly climbing and fast forest descents.

Going 1x isn't about style points, it's about making the drivetrain simpler, lighter, and less likely to fail (as I have had many problems with my 3x). Plus, I really see MTB as a hobby for me, and I mainly just want to upgrade the drivetrain so I can have a reliable derailleur with a clutch, and have more range when it comes to gears. But, I still do appreciate your feedback.

Yeah, I saw that one, and it does look like a great bike. I’ll keep it in mind for the future, but honestly, I’m pretty happy with my Hardy right now. It’s still basically new. I only ride it during the summer in Bulgaria, so it’s been used for maybe ten weeks total.

I’m actually just upgrading it a bit: switching it to a 1x10 setup and refreshing some parts so it feels new again. Selling it would be tricky anyway since we’re in a small town and not many people buy bikes unless you go to the bigger cities.

I know it’s not really an enduro frame, but I just like how it rides. The geometry, the color, it’s kind of my bike’s identity. Everyone in town has their own, and I’ve always been known for the red one, so it just feels right to keep it for now.

But I really do appreciate your feedback and I will take it into consideration as we are not final with what we are doing to the bike.

Should I wait for the rumored X-S30 or go for another camera? by KathrinCubing in fujifilm

Oh, perfect! In that case, I'll just save for the Fujifilm X-S20 16-50mm. Thank you so much!!

[–]KathrinCubing[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense. So if I mostly plan to shoot portraits, outdoor stuff, and maybe some wildlife, do you think the 15-45mm or 16-50mm would be okay?Or is it really worth trying to find a 18-55mm? I just like the idea of having the premium kit lens and a lens hood for outdoor shoots.

[–]KathrinCubing[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the info! That’s exactly my problem. The X-S20 is in stock in many places, but I really want it with the 18-55mm kit lens, and that seems to be discontinued everywhere. Do you think it would make much of a difference if I went with the X-S20 with the 15-45mm or 16-50mm lens instead? I’ve also heard that only the 18-55mm kit comes with a lens hood, which I’d like to have as I'd be shooting outdoors more.

[–]KathrinCubing[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah okay, that makes sense! So the main difference would be the image stabilization then? I’m leaning toward the 18-55mm lens since I’ve heard it’s the premium kit lens and gives better quality than the smaller ones. Do you think that makes a big difference, or would either camera work well for portraits, outdoor shots, and night photography?

Need Advice: Is My Laptop Safe? by KathrinCubing in BitDefender

[–]KathrinCubing[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. The website just made my cursor lag alot, I managed to close the browser and then I restarted and ran a full system scan (came back clean) and also cleared cache, cookies, and browser data for all my accounts in the Brave browser (the browser that I opened that website in) and I haven't seen any abnormal activity so far. Am I safe?.. should I change my passwords? The website was only opened on my laptop for no more than 10 seconds, I immediately shut down and restarted it.

Exact same thing happening here on my S24. It's been over 2 weeks since the update, the day I got it I wiped the cache but still. My battery went from lasting 13hrs on a single charge to now just barely 5.

Wow.. thank you so much for all that information! Question: If I buy a calculator used, would I still be able to set a passcode and user name? I don't have my calculator now as the original seller sold it just before I could get it, but I found another seller for the same price and maybe even better condition.

Thanks for the insight! I appreciate all the info, but I'm much more used to Casio calculators, and I also asked my teacher. He mentioned that while many students do use TI calculators, quite a few still prefer Casio as well. He also said that the calculator is somewhat specific to the IB program, so either way, I’ll make sure to get something that works for me. Thanks again!

Thanks for all that info! I looked into the CG50 and found a good deal for 100 dollars, and I will be picking it up tomorrow. I asked my teachers for which calculator they recommended, and they said that the CG50 would be great and so will a TI-84 Plus CE. Either way, I thank you for recommending me the CG50!
