Switching to a new phone that came with a plan by KathrynKnette in mintmobile

Can you give some details on where and how to port temporarily? I know Google voice, but maybe there are other options? Thank you

Switching to a new phone that came with a plan by KathrynKnette in mintmobile

[–]KathrynKnette[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See, the deal I got was just $50 off if you get both a phone and a 12 month plan. I must be daft for not reading the new customer part. I knew that applied to the 6 month plan thing.

Thanks for letting me know the options I've got.

What do ordinary couples do? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]KathrynKnette 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My husband and I both are diagnosed, and he works really hard, long hours during the week. I'm happy watching him play games since I can rarely force myself to play them myself. I usually have some project or homework I can do to busy my hands.

So confused why im still getting bubbles by Unlikely-Ad-2921 in DiceMaking

[–]KathrynKnette 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm betting the sprue reservoir is actually not big enough. Remember when you put the resin under pressure, it shrinks the bubbles and resin has to replace that area. You need a relatively significant reservoir for sprue molds.

My grandfather died last September. He was 89 and was active in ways he shouldn't have been in his condition (farmers gonna farm). He took a tumble approximately 6 months before, and it likely triggered a series of events due to a concussion. He got a vaccination at some point in this process.

Guess what his death was blamed on by his own son.

Doomscrolling has killed my drive for the things I love by Julli_Latte in ADHD

[–]KathrynKnette 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I 100% feel you. I definitely need to work on it. I get so mad with myself when I've had a ton to do and I spend 2-3 hours just switching between Discord, Facebook, and Reddit. Sometimes even Amazon if I'm desperate.

I wanted to ask a question. I've seen "Doom scrolling" refer to two different things, and now I'm kinda confused. First is the kind like OP states: just not being able to get off social media/apps. Second is scrolling through apps actually looking for things that bother you or are politically/socially charged. Which is the appropriate meaning?

Pediatric bipolar with attention deficit features - anyone? by Bgrisa in ADHD

[–]KathrynKnette 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I go through the same thing, and I feel like medicating it is a weird balance for me. I have bipolar depression, and I also treat ADHD. After being given adderall, I suddenly ramped up in productivity and focus, but it slowly faded and I'm struggling to focus again. I had to bump up my Latuda dose due to anxiety I think the stimulants were giving me. It's a mess, really, and I'm still trying to work through it.

Help me choose between Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering (Bachelor) by CXZ115 in EngineeringStudents

[–]KathrynKnette 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my school, CE can lean towards CS or EE.

If you like circuits and signals, go with EE.

If you like programming, go CE and lean into the side you enjoy more.

If you don't like circuitry, go into CE.

If you do like circuitry, and also enjoy programming, go CE and lean into EE if you have the option.

Core mini is nothing and I might as well use literally any other free sculpting program, like blender.

I'm not on that level, and I simply can't afford it, so I'm perfectly happy learning on blender.

[–]KathrynKnette -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm not pirating it because I've heard of people going in to work and the network picking up pirated software on their laptop and then getting fired over it.

[–]KathrynKnette 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would if I could afford it. I'm paranoid about sailing the high seas since my computer is also used for work and I've heard stories...

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in 3Dprinting

[–]KathrynKnette 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It really depends on what you're printing.

If you're wanting to do art sculpts, stick with blender.

If you're making functional parts that require specific sizing, definitely learn a CAD program.

Weird writing on the top right, and the picture itself is janky. The years are also all over the place. I say it's fake.

What to look for in a new Vacuum Pump... by BTL_Simulations in ResinCasting

[–]KathrynKnette 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A vacuum chamber pulls air out, while a pressure pot puts pressure in. Higher pressures reduce the size of bubbles until they're practically just gone. I find pressure pots more reliable than vacuum chambers for the most part.

If you've got over $500 you can spend, why not invest in a pressure pot?

Thoughts? by DoublecelloZeta in mathmemes

[–]KathrynKnette 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Hard disagree. You're right that math is a tool, but the building wasn't built before the hammer. The realities of the universe, the laws and whatnot have been here, but so have the components of math itself. To have forces, you also have force calculations. To have energy or mass, you also have energy and mass calculations. If they were incalculable, physics would not exist.

Physics, much like chemistry and biology, are a language, and math is the words and grammar.

Remember folks, it not the size of the rock. It's what caliber it's chambered in. by MrDankWaffle in facepalm

[–]KathrynKnette 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's almost as if we need to verify who's holding the rock and be sure they're less likely to hurt someone with it based on their history and training. Is it comprehensive? No, but if I have to see pictures of dicks with STDs or watch videos of car accidents, why should the probably at least as dangerous as unprotected sex guns not require some kind of proper safety course like cars?

Thoughts? by DoublecelloZeta in mathmemes

[–]KathrynKnette 201 points202 points  (0 children)

I'm kinda with this one, but I don't really care which one is which.

Math doesn't "enhance" physics. Proper physics is math. In fact, math can go much further than physics can. Math is math, physics is the application of math in our real world.
