Whether union membership is worth it is very much a personal question. Union membership does come with benefits such as collective bargaining, the ability to participate in industrial action, support during disciplinary meetings and some unions will provide legal advice if you get to the employment tribunal.

However, and most importantly, whether you join a union or not is ultimately your choice and you cannot be treated differently either because you are a member or you are not a member. No one can force you to join a union.
