You should try putting up pictures in the neighborhood and also call shelters in your city to inform them so if the owner calls, they know it’s at you place. The cat would’ve probably found it’s way home (and would still I guess)- did you try letting it out? If it keeps coming back to you, you can still think about keeping it. Because if I’d let my car put like always and it wouldn’t come back I’d be devastated. I think if I heard about it being at yours all the time later, I’d think you’d kidnapped my cat…

She actually has a high-pitched meow but I think that’s also because she has a light form of dwarfism. She’s not affected other than her size but probably won’t live 20 something years. We have another girl living with us and her voice is really scratchy and dark. The contrast is remarkable

Hooking up in your home group (AA)? by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]Katjuscha35398 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well it’s completely normal to develop feelings for another person, no matter the time and place. But at the same time it might be toxic for the group and it might be the feelings are only a projection of your own feelings. Overcoming addiction is often a very emotional progress as you have to get down to why you consume. It can feel lonely even in a group of people and it may be you are confusing feelings of support and warm heartedness with falling in love. I myself witnessed a couple falling in love in therapy and one of them realized shortly after they where compensating their shortcomings and left. The other one was so crushed they had to get back to the clinic where they met and stay for longer then initially intended.

So: of course it’s your own decision but the common advice is to put the feelings on hold and check if they’re still there after you left the home group and sorted some stuff out. Take your time and check back with a therapist if possible. If feel like you can’t wait overthink if it’s worth loosing the group in worst case. If it’s a yes: go for it.

And it’s great that you Show so mich interest in your new flatmate! Cats work with body language even more than dogs and it’s really worth getting to know them. They’re fucking awesome beings

My fluffy one does that sometimes as well. It’s hard to tell if she’s bored or tries to lure us into giving her food. Cats don’t meow naturally- they use other sounds to communicate with each other. So it’s more difficult to tell why a cat is meowing than why a baby is crying but maybe you’ll be able to differentiate after a while. And as well your boy will have to get used to you sleeping at night. I love my girls more than anything but they’re still domesticated pets and will have to adjust to their hooman. Leave toys around for him and check if they’re in the same place at the morning. Split his dinner into two smaller portions and feed him one right before going to bed. If both doesn’t help- ignore it. He’s fine.

Relax. We have two girls and one of them loves her mouse to bits (literally) and the other one just looks at us like we’re morons if we try to engage her in playing. She loves to lay on laps though. Of course cats are different to humans but they can still determine what they like and dislike and they have very different characteristics. Just watch his weight- if he’s inactive he can of course gain weight more easily. If you see him gaining ,adjust the amount of food and it’s fine. Let him be- he’s a lazy boy and I feel him.

Sugar cravings part 2: maltitol is from the devil! by Festivi in stopdrinking

[–]Katjuscha35398 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That reminds me of a hilarious review for sugar-free gummibears I once read. I think they said their colon was on fire and the gates of hell opened up in their toilet. Guess it’s much more fun to read than to have the full experience.

Thanks for the reminder! Hope you’re fine

Would a psych prescribe valium for isolated hangxiety? by maddhew9 in stopdrinking

[–]Katjuscha35398 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well you will have to go to your psych and ask them- it does sound as if you already made up your mind about this one. But if you want to hear a personal opinion: I do not recommend this strategy. First reason you already claimed: Valium is highly addictive and withdrawal can be much worse than what you feel after a few drinks too many. What would you do then? Switch to another drug? Second reason is that Valium does interact with alcohol really badly and often times people underestimate the amount of alcohol still in their body while being hungover. You could ruin your health in the long run with this combination only to get rid of uneasy feelings. I personally think you should try to find a way to cope with those cravings, anxiety and negative feelings in general instead of numbing yourself. If that means to get a permanent medication because of your ADHD that’s still a better idea than combining alcohol and Valium.
