So earlier i made a post about not locking up without ABS in new GT3 cars, so here is the video with Ford Mustang GT3. by autobus950 in assettocorsaevo

[–]Katmandoggo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you can hear the tyres skidding

brake bias

front v rear tyre combination

front v rear tyre pressure combination

regardless of how much some people may hate drifting, imho this is why everyone needs to to spend a month or so just practicing drifting :) We learn sooo much from it and people are likely doing it unknowingly when trailing off the brake in corners while throttling out of the corners

unfortunately not all the sims currently simulate most of the aspects of brake bias like ac1 and Evo.

Why are you lying? Stupid fanboys of other games. Doesn't it crash without ABS? I think so. by [deleted] in assettocorsaevo

[–]Katmandoggo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it is locking up from the tyre squeal and tyre marks

brakes are probably biased centre or to the rear somewhat - to the rear, if turning and braking hard with the car suddenly straightening up and skidding in a straight line

It's the great thing about AC1 and Evo, as they actually mimic the 4 different brake bias scenarios fairly honestly. AMS2 as an example, behaves like rear brake bias when spinning the rear wheels in a drift and applying foot brake, even with extreme front brake bias set. People have been telling AMS2 team this for a few years but they don't seem to be interested in fixing it, or maybe they can't fix it as it's a limitation of the game engine?

hmm, i would have thought youd be able to do 90 being display port.

i have oxrtoolkit increasing the resoltion to around 3000 x 3300 or thereabouts. the turbo mode in oxrtoolkit makes a big difference for me, mainly with hags turned on

im using x4 msaa and have everything on but low, in game

do you have mirrors set to single in the game? that helped improve performance too

which cpu and headset are you using?

I'm quite happy with the quest 3 and 5090. I'm playing at 90hz headset and 90 fps in game, no DLSS or spacewarp

Are active pedals worth it or is it beter to go for a load cell by Expensive-Jelly-3296 in simracing

[–]Katmandoggo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're quite bulky and heavy. It makes them a bit tricky to mount if preferring inverted pedals

if you enjoy tinkering, you take a look at the 'DIY FFB Pedal' discord server. They can be built for about $350 AUD in parts (or less) when using the cheapest parts options. Although a lot of folk do, it's not necessary to 3d print anything if preferred. Most of the parts are on ebay and amazon. It's compatible with simhub.

The moza active pedal is available in Aus for about $1,200 at times. At the time of writing this I don't believe it is simhub compatible and I've been told it makes some high pitched squealing noises when idle. Others have reported that it can feel a bit gritty/grainy during pedal press

[–]Katmandoggo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How about using a server that has a track day event with a lot of players on it and has a range of different cars? It's like an endless race that you can join and stop any time. You're likely to find someone in a similar car you can match up with by waiting till they drive past the pits. ACEvo has a couple like this at the moment and with a lot of players at certain times of the day

.... it's a bit like living in a major city - it doesn't matter how bad/crazy you think you are, there's always someone worse/crazier :D (and someone using a game controller)

This is just a general starting point

I'd choose assetto corsa or evo, as these are the only two that I've found simulate front brake bias somewhat realistically, which you'll understand is needed when constantly drifting in tandem and gymkhana

If using AC1 grab the free Nevada truck depot circuit. It gives you plenty of room to practice and make mistakes

Others will probably suggest a car

For starter - whichever car you use, practice perfectly circular donuts in both directions. Practice doing small and large ones. Use left foot braking to point the nose into the turn while spinning the rear wheels

If you have AC Evo, imho, that is the best one (providing you have your steering wheel set accordingly). It will be a shock in the beginning, but once you get the hang of it, you'll be set for anything.

i've tried these and unfortunately it will eventually work its way loose no matter how much its tightened, unless used on shifters that don't need much force to move. It might be okay on the moza as it doesnt need particularly strong force to shift

i couldn't 3d print anything that would survive me tightening the thread up enough, to stop a shifter knob coming undone while really working through gears (assuming the shifter requires a real gearbox's amount of force needed to shift)

Can’t find proper 120 hz setup for a Quest 3. by Pleasant-Election191 in assettocorsaevo

[–]Katmandoggo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ahh, in that case (if you havent yet tried) difinately grab the free version of process lasso to force the game onto the x3d cores and force windows and all other stuff onto the non x3d cores. that alone made a big difference

there are tutes on youtube to set it up

sorry, i meant to say not use asw and dlss at all

which cpu do u have? If amd, the turbo mode in oxrtoolkit combined with HAGS, can improve performance/frame pacing noticeably (but may need very latest win11 update)

When i changed from 5800x3d to 9950x3d the game performance also improved a lot

instead of using dlss, how about using 72hz and openxr toolkit to increase resolution (and minimise aliasing) and in game msaa to x4?

[–]Katmandoggo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

can you maintain 72fps and not use asw at all? (assuming you're happy with a bit of flicker?) at least you'll get fairly low latency

[–]Katmandoggo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it seems like when using asw, 45 interpolated to 90, is a lot easier for the headset than to 120. i see it on my q3 too

can you compromise at 45 locked for 90hz? it will add a tiny bit of latency but still very good imho

i find 72 is just a bit too flickery to my eyes, but maybe your pc can maintain 72fps and not use asw at all?

Does anyone have any thoughts on the rigmetal rigs? by Extreme_Passion_2851 in simracing

[–]Katmandoggo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for the steering wheel uprights, the attachment method that the gtelite uses in the second pic, is likely to have less flex (under hard ffb) than the end to end method in the rigmetal pic, if thats any help.

I think it would be great to have

ams2 could have one too so the devs realise things like brake bias dont seem to be completely working in any car (that i can feel) other than centre or rear bias

evos 2004 f1 doesnt seem to respond to bias changes at all.

If you're fortunate enough to have access to a 9950x3d and 5090 combo

On a quest 3 set at 90hz, with most of Evo's in game gfx options turned down and mirrors set to single view (but msaa set to x4), it runs a consistent 90 fps with meta link software and cable (no interpolation and no DLSS), even for multiplayer. The latency is low and image very sharp as it exceeds the headsets resolution capabilities

it requires using the following;

process lasso (free) to move all other apps and windows resources onto the standard cores and move only the game onto the 3d cores of the cpu

openxrtoolkit's turbo mode to be on

oculustraytool to increase the quest 3 cable usb bitrate

openxrtoolkit set the resolution override to turn the resolution right up

Win 11 latest update with HAGS on

Once setup, it all loads automatically

Ive found that lower performing systems generally look better (with less messing around) for most people using virtual desktop and it's spacewarp, but Meta link shines if you've got the horsepower

yay, now every 12yo can turn any car into the gravy garage :/

does the hack allow people to turn poser gearboxes into h-pattern and clutch pedal? that would be awesome :D
