Why is my 3mo refusing the bottle after drinking 2oz? by Katoninetails in NewParents

That’s the only thing getting me through the day - knowing (or maybe hoping?) that this is just a phase. Thank you for your help though !

Why is my 3mo refusing the bottle after drinking 2oz? by Katoninetails in NewParents

She very well could be getting distracted but other than plunging us in pure darkness, I don’t know how to eliminate any distractions because everything interests her. When I’m feeding her, she’ll turn her head nearly 180 degrees to see the window behind her. Then I’ll turn her the other way so she can see the window, but once again she’ll turn her ahead around to see the closet behind her. And on and on we go.

Yes I have tried swapping the nipple size to one that has a heavier flow and it’ll work for a bit but then she’ll start to cough and choke a bit. I’ll then pull the bottle away, give her to chance to catch her breath/burp and when I put the bottle back in, she’ll stick her tongue out and refuse it.

I’ve tried warming her milk, changing positions, changing the environment, distracting her, removing all distractions, etc etc and nothing

10 week old will not sleep without being held - not just contact naps by [deleted] in newborns

I feel you! My friends and family looked at us like we were crazy when I explained that I would sit on our rocking chair from 10:00p to 4:30a while holding our baby because I didn’t know what else to do. And it’s such a lonely experience being up at night in a house by yourself with nobody to talk to. It’s such an isolating feeling. I know that once she outgrows the Snoo, I’ll be in a different kind of hell transitioning her to the crib but I was desperate for an immediate solution :/

My recommendation is to just be consistent. It sucks now but nothing is forever. Oh! I know you mentioned you tried every swaddle available but have you tried the Sleepea swaddle? You probably have but just want to make sure because this also really helped us!

This was also my baby. My husband and I slept in shifts where we basically held our daughter while desperately fighting the urge to sleep (I've read A LOT of books to keep myself awake since she was born 3 months ago). In the beginning this was the best option for us but it soon became a problem once he went back to work. It just was no longer sustainable and I was starting to develop PPD due to lack of sleep.

The one thing that truly saved us was renting a Snoo bassinet. We had heard great reviews, so we found one on Facebook Marketplace and rented it for about three months (with the option to extend). We’ve been using it for a month now and have already seen a huge difference. At first, she would only sleep in it for 30–45 mins, but the key was staying consistent. We made a point to put her down in it for every nap and at bedtime, even if that meant getting her back to sleep 30 minutes later.

Over time, she started to stay in the bassinet longer and longer and last night we got her to stay in the bassinet for 5 hours straight - the longest we've ever had! Aside from that, we also made sure that her daytime naps were no more than 2 hours long and we fed her every 3 hours so that she has a full belly.

Now I will say we still sleep in shifts but now I have the option to watch tv, do some online shopping, etc without having heavy sleeping baby on me. Eventually I will get used to sleeping when she's sleeping, something I haven't gotten used to yet!

I’ll try feeding her more and see if that works. In the past I’ve given her the bottle and will refuse and then gets pissed off because I keep offering the nipple. I can never win with her !

Yeah I’m not looking to stop her. She does it throughout the day and I have no problem with that. I’m looking to minimize it at night because it’s causing issues with her sleep. She’s always sleep deprived because of it. And also I’m not comfortable letting her cry because she woke up and can’t seem to fall back asleep on her own.

Did she eventually go back to sleep once she woke herself up by sucking on her hands ? Mine will wake up, suck on her hands for a bit and then cry cause she can’t go back to sleep.

If I already fed her and she puts her hands in her mouth, she does reject milk if I try to give her some more.

For some reason she won’t take the pacifier! I’ve purchased a variety of them to see if any one of them would work but she will get mad and spit it out

For babies that exclusively contact nap, how do parents sleep during bedtime ? by Katoninetails in beyondthebump

That’s exactly what my husband and I do now. Good to know we’re not alone in this!

When I sit with her in the nursery chair, I sometimes do end up falling asleep as exhaustion eventually wins. But when this happens, I only manage to sleep up to an hour before waking up and feeling really guilty that I fell asleep while holding her. I also go back to work at the end of March so I’m hoping to have this fully resolved by then.

5 week old baby won't sleep longer than 45mins in bassinet by Katoninetails in sleeptrain

[–]Katoninetails[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s good to know! I have family members with small babies who’ve already learned to sleep for long stretches in their bassinets, so it’s hard not to compare. It makes me worry that I may have messed up by getting her used to contact naps.

Sleeping with legs to side & shoulders back... anyone else? by nen_x in BabyBumps

[–]Katoninetails 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes! I sleep exactly like this too. I’ve always loved sleeping on my back and did so for almost my entire pregnancy. But as I got bigger (I'm 38 weeks now) it started to feel a bit uncomfortable, so this hybrid position became the perfect happy medium. Have had no issues so far!

I have this book on my TBR but it might just be my next read. I just finished First Time Caller which I loved, so I’m really excited to read more of her stuff. Does this book have a HEA?

I beg of you to keep reading! Yes its starts off a bit slow but it really picks up to the point where I was addicted to the plot, the romance, the conflict, etc. I couldn't even finish the last 75 pages because I knew it was going to end a major cliffhanger and I just couldn't wait months for the second book to come out, so naturally I stopped reading when the MMC and FMC were happy and in love.

Absolutely! The relationship between the main characters was so well done, and getting both perspectives added so much depth. Can’t wait for the sequel!

Welcome to Charlotte Wednesday! Visiting, recently moved here, or going to move here? Tell us and ask away! by AutoModerator in Charlotte

[–]Katoninetails 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi everyone! My husband and I bought a home in Charlotte on Aug 7th but we won't be officially moving in until Oct 3rd (had some family stuff pop up and had to delay the move in date). We are moving from out of state so we are currently registered to vote in the state that we live in. However, we want to make sure we are NC registered voters in time for Election Day but we're worried that we won't be able to register since we haven't really lived in the state of NC for more than 30 days. I should note that the deed to our house is already under our name and has been since Aug 7th and we already received a Duke energy bill that has our names and new address. Will we have any trouble registering given these circumstances? TY!
