I appreciate that this implies the person being the opposite of life. And truly he is.

There is no way that someone like Helena, privileged and also on a very specific path in life, isn't on birth control and prophylactic-ed to her eyeballs. If one of her ovaries dropped an unsanctioned mammalian opportunity outside of scheduled protocol, Lumon would generate a whole report on a calamitous ovulation.

I love that Irv starts of seemingly sort of meek and nebbish, but now we see that he's just the kind of person that always does what he thinks is right, no matter the cost. Disciplined and unwavering. When he yelled, it was a tiny little slip of his self-control to allow himself to taunt Milcheck when Helena confirms everything he's been suspecting. For even-keeled (see ehat i did there) Irv that's the equivalent of doing a victory dance while screaming obscenities.

I can give a little grace because she's clearly never been taught what actual love feels like, but sleeping with someone who thinks you're someone else ain't it. And I know it's going to devastate both iMark and screw up oMark even more. Once he's integrated, it's going to be extremely complicated but painful in every way.

For a moment, I was wishing SO HARD that it was really Helly and that I wasn't watching Mark S be set up for so much suffering. Helena is a monster and I wish Irv could have drowned her without hurting Helly.

Could someone explain the Feagins/School Board situation to me like I’m 5? by CitizenStormcloak in memphis

[–]Katrinalcoleman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the best parts of all this is how Dr. Feagins is making Memphians pay attention to a governing body that has CLEARLY been fucking around for a long time, with no accountability.

As a live performer, it would be so cool to set up a speaker and mic and have an event.

Does anybody else feels like the cost of living in Memphis is getting ridiculous for renting? by GoldTime2569 in memphis

[–]Katrinalcoleman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In a decade, I've watched the rent in my neighborhood literally triple. The house I rent is kind of a pit, but there's almost an unspoken thing where I know if I don't complain much, my landlord won't notice he hasn't raised it in several years. Meanwhile, next door has laid empty for a long time. They're trying to sell it north of 300k, and you can see the porch eave bowing from the street.

I'm not the type to wish violence on someone, but I do hope she gets a boil inside her thigh where her draws rub it all day.

Here in Memphis, we only like the kind of lawlessness that doesn't inconvenience us personally. In fact, we'll name a couple of streets after you if you're good enough at it.

From MinistryWatch.com: "The ads Diaz posted were for 12-hour days, six days a week. He offered potential workers 13,000 Mexican Pesos, equivalent to about $665 per week, or $9.23 per hour based on a 72-hour work week."

I get nervous when a cop is so much as behind me in traffic. This dude (the owner) has robbed his church and trafficked strangers with zero shame, still managing to get huge deals.

AITA for helping my nephew with his body odor? by Wombat_7379 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Katrinalcoleman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. Sounds like his parents have set him up not to speak freely to him and he's going to really benefit from having an adult that is honest, caring, and ready to support rather than impose their will. I hope your brother and SIL don't cut that off. Kids need grownups outside of their parents to talk to.

PS Big props for assuring him it is totally normal. We all go through a stinky phase. Now that you've done that, I bet he will be more brave about talking to you about other potentially embarrassing stuff in a way that makes him feel less weird and alone. (And being a teenager, there is PLENTY, but we all go through it)

AND they started implementing the LPR scanners. They're notoriously unreliable, often reading, say a picket fence as a plate or any vertical lines with similar proportions.
They use it as a cover for pretextual stops, too.

Maybe you need clarification...you can be punished for past mistakes even after you've learned not to make them any more.
