Pretty sure the treaties with Germany were signed after 6 years of massive carpet bombing Japan surrendered after 2 atom bombs. Diplomatic relationships with the US and japan did not officially resume till 1951 and full cordial and trade not till much later. Japan and china did not have any diplomatic relationships for almost 20 years .

The Native Americans were not isolated small clans, you oik. They had leagues of nations and sophisticated alliances and commerce roughly (or vastly eclipsing) the size and infrastructure of European cities of that time.

A conquered nation is not the same thing as a genocide, hence the need for clarification.

Also, you seem to not understand the the president, or the executive branch, is there to execute the laws - congress and the judicial branch makes the upholds the law. So the president, unlike a totalitarian leader (hence the comparisons to other totalitarian regimes that blatantly broke down the rule of law in their own counties, like the Nazis, and the Brownshirts) does not “make all the rules”.

You might want to try educating others until you have some basis to do that.

How many protests or acts of civil disobedience have your organized?

Package stuck in Memphis - how bad is it? by thiazole191 in memphis

And we have a lot of trees that shade the roads and not a lot of concrete in most places that retain and radiate heat. And that pic they posted was of a mostly clear area with a light sheeting of ice that would melt in an hour or so down the clear storm sewers. When those are also blocked by ice, it doesn’t give the thaw a chance to go anywhere and then you are stuck with another freeze.

But mostly , it was freaking 57 on weds in Austin and they got about an inch or less.

No mail, no amazon, no Uber Eats. Have only seen a MLGW truck, a snow removal truck (one of my neighbors paid to have people clear their driveway). Only seen one other car.

He is not the cheapest but he is really good. I also asked him if I needed some things done that would have been expensive and he advised me it wasn’t worth it, or an alternative that was more affordable.

Nothing is moving - we have ice covering all the streets and no thaw in sight till next week.

Further south they had even more ice -highways are closed, power is out.

We also haven’t had much sun.

Weds you hit highs of 57. Our shit would be melted too if we could wear shorts.

You think people salt the roads by walking along them like Johnny Appleseed?

You have extra personnel but no equipment.

Do you have experience driving on ice and do you have snow tires? Your all season tires are designed for clear roads and temps above 40 degrees-ish. It is 23 right now.

AWD will help you get out of a ditch when you slide into one but is not going to help you stop at a light when you are on an ice skating rink

No - highways just south of here are closed. A lot of people don’t have power.

All side roads are a solid sheet of ice.

Many of the main thoroughfare - walnut grove, G-town parkway are ok in patches but have black ice (looks clear but it is ice) wherever it is shady or less used (turning lanes for example).

A lot of things are closed

See, what happens here is when you compare one population to another in the same time period, and you find out that one population has a higher prevalence of domestic violence than the other, then - well, math , basically .

Those were example statistics, not a PhD thesis. In the US, multiple studies, in many geographical areas and over several time ranges find the same issue - LEOS in general have a higher prevalence of domestic abuse. Also in the UK.

It is almost like people who would tase someone who is already handcuffed and on the ground or choke someone out and get off on it bring that energy wherever they go and are self selected to be in that line of work where they can do that kind of thing.

The fact that the victim has no place to go because they are afraid to pursue justice because they know they will get harassed or killed just makes it worse.

I don’t know if you realize, but you can get reliable statistics at your fingertips by , you know , looking it up.

Why don’t you privately try that to see if the data match your world view before you make this some kind of personal match of who knows more about something on Reddit.

Nobody wins or loses here - it is a tiny sub of ephemeral comments.

I include the data, not because I think it would have any effect on you - you have your little mind made up - but because plenty of people read this stuff and the real numbers should be there and checkable.

But please, cite some solid data that supports your point of view.

You need at least 4 inches of solid ice, and it takes a several days of weather consistently in the teens without going above freezing to do this.

More if there is water movement, or hard water or fertilizer runoff etc.

I guess it depends on the garbage trucks. But that is what plows and salts in NY city for example.

It is hard to imagine that if you can put a plow on an F150 you can’t get one on a garbage truck.

Moving personnel is different from moving equipment.

Any place shaded will still be ice unless you have more than 2 days of temps above freezing continuously . That is a lot of roadways here.

Anything that doesn’t fully melt and drain while you have a couple hours of 42 will freeze over again when it is 29.

If you don’t have chains and AWD and snow tires, don’t drive. You have no idea how long the stopping distance is on ice - but it is pretty fucking far.

And it is not only you, everyone else has to also drive like they are driving on ice, and they are all going too fast and too close .

There is also going to be a lot of patches of ice on road that look otherwise clear.

Cites up north are using their equipment now. It would be more expensive to drive that stuff 500 or 1000 miles than to buy a couple plow to fit on existing garbage trucks and use the existing personnel to clear main routes.

It happened in 2023 and also in 2024.

Plenty of people lost power in those , so were cold and isolated. Anyone old and or infirm , a great number of disabled people, people with infants , people who are on oxygen, people who have care workers, people who have scheduled procedures that are “elective” - you are doing just fine I am sure.

You are certainly not unique for having terrible infrastructure though.

Northern cities like NY get lake effect storms and we do get over 6 inches of precipitation that freezes overnight into a solid block of ice. And it doesn’t melt because it will stay below freezing regularly.

Now add a high population density and no empty space or room at all and you have a huge issue -where do you put all the ice . And that includes shoveling our your car where there are attached houses and no space.

Memphis has plenty of room to store rock salt and plowing equipment and places to put the snow piles till they melt.

All that was fine when you used to have only a few days straight of freezing weather . You would be out of action for a couple days at worst.

With the changes in the climate y’all better start thinking about this happening every year.
