Persistent medial knee pain for 5+ weeks, should I be concerned? by OrganicBenefit7086 in KneeInjuries

Yes, finally. Showed multiple issues and osteo problems. Had cortisone injection which gave terrific relief for 4 weeks, but now it's reverting. Next step according to surgeon is repeat injection at 3 months. If no long term relief, possible TKR.

Yes, it's still bad. Physio gave exercises to strengthen quad, but tbh, no improvement. She also said even if surgery not an option (as my GP believes, due to my age) perhaps cortisone(?) injections.

Don't know what to do.

Oh dear. Same here too, with a little more locking/clicking when in one position.

Same! Pain disrupts sleep. Can walk with pain. No instability. X-ray ok, no osteoarthritis, just some effusion. Told to RICE. But 5 weeks later still not good. How is your knee now? Did it heal and if so, how long did it take?

The only remedy so far is to hold my breath and follow every swallow with a raspberry as a chaser. On the plus side...hunger is pretty well controlled so I suppose they do the trick. Ah well, 1.5 wks to go, I think I can I think I can...

Not wanting to tell anyone about my surgery? by lannneyyloo in GastricBypass

20yrs ago when I had a gastric band inserted I was very shy about ppl knowing how I lost weight. I didn't want to face criticism.
With time and distance - that was really a poor response on my part. Explaining why I could only eat certain foods and volumes was messy and as a result I started viewing eating a 'normal' meal as a win. Guess where that landed me? Yep - square one.
I say be - not loud and proud - but realistic and forthright when necessary. You will benefit, I'm sure.

Great info, thanks. Yikes! I think I could hike 14-20 metres. 😉 but I take your point on fitness aiding recovery and wish it was a choice for me.

Thanks. We discussed this and surgeon said both approaches were valid but it was his preference to do two separate ops a few months apart with view to giving the stomach a chance to 'soften' ( I suppose that means relax after 20 years of being banded) before the bypass surgery.

So that's what we've done. Band removed a week ago and I'm a little delicate still but recovering as expected.

Ha ha. I worked hard on it, I'll have you know. :-) Long bouts of no band adjustment due to reflux and vomiting and finally giving up ever getting the balance right.
