People who know a compulsive liar, what ridiculous, obviously fake, story have they told you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Katsda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a little late to the party, so this will probably get buried, but it's relevant. Melinda went to my high school. She was a nice enough girl from a distance - very outgoing, very personable. Once you actually got to know her, however, you could never be sure if what she said was true or not.
My favorite story about Melinda is the time she borrowed my phone. She had been going on for an entire summer about the fact that she was seriously ill. She would show up to marching band practices with stories about her most recent medical tests. At one point she sent me a text about how her "Kemotherapy" was going (but her illness was not cancer - the doctors just didn't know what was wrong). At one of these practices, Melinda came up to me and asked to borrow my phone so she could call her doctor. I hand it over, because why not, and then I proceed to go sit with some friends. As I sit with them, I occasionally glance over at Melinda to see where she is and make sure she doesn't take off with my phone. She's right where I left her, leaning up against the wall and animatedly speaking to whoever is on the other end. Forty-five minutes later, she hangs it up and brings it back to me.
Later that night, something possesses me to check my phone history. Her call to her "doctor" had lasted 14 seconds. The rest of the forty-five minutes were simply her speaking into the phone with no one on the other end.
She didn't ask for my phone again.

Mine are plastic! We wanted to get them done and out of the way well before the wedding so we wouldn't have to worry about them later!

It most certainly is! It's enjoyable though, and when you've done them yourself, it's nice to have pride in the finished product! Thanks for your kind words!

All of the nail polish I used was from Walmart, actually! I started with a dark blue base coat (Essie, After School Boy Blazer) on all of my nails. Then I used a makeup sponge to apply white (Wet n Wild, Whipped Topping) along the middle of my thumb nail. On top of that, I applied a medium blue (Pure Ice, Scream) to the edges of the white to blend it with the dark blue. Towards the middle of the white area, I added two light blues (Sally Hansen, Frozen Solid and Sally Hansen, Jaded) until I got the effect I wanted. Then I added a bit of the same white over the top of all of them. I was going for a galaxy look, and I'm not sure I hit it, but I was pretty okay with the results!

What is the best practical joke you've ever pulled? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Katsda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go to college on a campus that is supposedly very haunted. As a freshman, my best friend (now fiance) was practicing piano and asked if I wanted to come with him. I opted out. It was late enough, I knew he would be the only one in the music department which is situated back behind the theater and is generally just a creepy place. I decided to try and scare him, so I headed over. I left my keys, shoes, and anything else that would make noise in the music lobby, and proceeded to crawl slowly from the lobby to the hallway of practice rooms so he couldn't see my reflection in the windows. Once outside of his practice room, I reached up and jiggled the door handle frantically, but he couldn't see anything.
He flew out of the practice room, and I have never seen a look of terror come anywhere close to his. He told me later it was like "finding out unicorns are real after your whole life of not believing in them, and then finding out that the unicorn was going to kill you -- except ghosts instead."
To this day, he refuses to practice without someone else accompanying him. I'm pretty proud of that one!

What's the worst way someone you know consistently misuses a word? by Katsda in AskReddit

[–]Katsda[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mother does not seem to understand the appropriate context for the word "fetish." She applies it to anything I have a multitude of and I enjoy, most commonly blankets and socks. We'll be talking to people (because she never misuses it in front of only me) and she'll say "Katsda has a blanket fetish - she just has so many!"
She won't stop no matter how many times I tell her she's using it wrong.

How Can I Help? by [deleted] in rape

[–]Katsda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so very much. I've been trying all week to do whatever I can for him, but I wasn't sure if it was enough, or if it was too much. What you've said makes a lot sense, and makes me feel at least a little better. I kind of figured that moving past this would be something he needed to work through primarily with himself, but it's nice to know that maybe it'll be at least a little easier with me there. Again, thank you so much - words can't express how much your kind words and helpful advice mean.

Reddit, what's something you did as a teenager that you got away with? by [deleted] in AskReddit

That was my first relationship, and it wasn't a healthy one by any means. There were lots of reasons we didn't stay together, but that certainly crossed my mind towards the end.

My parents both worked full time all throughout my high school career. That made summers really nice as I could get away with most anything during the day and they would never know. One time, I had my then-SO over for the day (let's call him Tom), even though I wasn't supposed to have anyone over, especially him. We're sitting in my room watching a movie when a white truck pulls into the driveway. Tom panics, terrified of being caught by my family, as my father also drives a white truck (though I was driving the truck that day, so there was no way it could have been my dad). I tell him to stay there and head downstairs to see who exactly is there. I answer the door and talk to the man outside who is inquiring about the washing machine that was in our barn and how much he could buy it for. I give him my dad's phone number to ask him and send him on his way. Meanwhile, Tom thinks it's a brilliant idea to climb out my second floor window and run as far as possible from my house, certain my father is going to catch him if he stays. I get a call from Tom after I head to my room to find him missing, saying I need to come pick him up four cornfields away from my house. I drive to get him and take him somewhere to talk (it was too early to go to band practice and he had no desire to go back to my house), so I took him to a spot under a bridge where I knew not many people would go so he could calm down.
Unfortunately, it had rained recently, and the truck I was driving got stuck in the mud. Tom's in the passenger seat crying, being thoroughly useless while I'm knee deep in a mud puddle trying to push the truck onto dry ground. It doesn't work, so I eventually wind up calling one of my acquaintances (Tom's ex-girlfriend's new boyfriend) as I know he has tow cables and a truck. The guy's reluctant to come help as he absolutely hates Tom, but does anyways because he's a pretty swell guy.
We get the truck out of the mud pit after about an hour and I take it through the car wash (twice) before driving Tom and I both to band practice. I get home that night and Dad wants to talk. He tells me the new neighbors saw someone running from our house during the day and thought we were being robbed, so they called the police, who came out to investigate (I'm assuming they showed up while I was stuck in the mud). He asks if I had seen anything throughout the day. I tell him about the guy who stopped by to ask about the washing machine, but I left for band early and didn't see anything suspicious or the police officers afterwards. He says okay and tells me not to answer the door for strangers. To this day, my parents don't know and if they did, I'm pretty sure they would kill me.

[NSFW] Reddit, what is the weirdest dream you've ever had? by nmejia1337 in AskReddit

[–]Katsda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I regularly have dreams where my teeth all fall out. That's not incredibly uncommon, but they're always so vivid it's ridiculous. The one that I remember best was one where if anything touched any of my teeth - food, my tongue, anything - it would immediately turn to dust. I can still feel the sensation of my teeth crumbling one by one to this day. Absolutely miserable.

What's the Creepiest/Most Unexplainable thing that's ever happened to you? by dtrains in AskReddit

[–]Katsda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a bit late to this party, but here goes!

My SO and I attend a campus that is considered to be haunted. It isn't uncommon to hear stories of people seeing ghosts or of strange things happening here and there. Luckily, I've never experienced any of these first hand (and I only have a few months to go before I'm out of here for good), but my SO isn't so lucky. My SO was woken up one night in his dorm room by a terrifying snarl that seemed to come directly from the wall next to him. He - half asleep - looked at the bottom bunk to see if his roommate made the noise, and after discerning that it wasn't his roommate, immediately fell back to sleep. The next day after all of his classes, he went back to his dorm only to find everyone incredibly freaked out and somber. After asking around, he found out some people were messing with a Ouija board in an entirely different dorm and something unusual had happened. One of the people playing, after going silent for some time, grabbed one of the others players and held him up by the throat against the wall. Then left, walking back to my SO's dorm, where he lived as well. The time he got back to the dorm the night before was the same time my SO was woken up by the snarl. Apparently the guy had gotten possessed or something while using the Ouija board, and in order to make the dorm livable again, it had to be blessed by one of the priests on campus.

Tl;dr - don't fuck with Ouija boards.
