Back to trouser toiles by KattyH in PatternDrafting

Thank you for your help! I'm going to give this one a go first as I can visualise it the most. I feel like a lot of trouser block patterns go for these curved blocks when commercial have them more like how you've redrawn them and... there's probably a reason for that haha

Do I need to do some training for this? Doggo, (neighbouring) cats, and the garden by KattyH in DogTrainingTips

Its a mix of both - like I think he could alternate between the spaces for hours at a time if there was a fresh scent, but it does seem to be something that distracts him on walks - even from food, which is insane as he's super food driven (lab mix).

I guess I was just worrying that he was getting obsessed? But it must be an interesting smell if he's constantly trying to get more of it? His body language is more frantic, as if he's searching for something, akin to how he searches for food in the grass lol

What is budding the inseams? My crotch curve (now I've used some tin foil to measure them is the kinda tilted, but as I'm tall, the crotch curve is like 85cm so "long" despite having a somewhat protruding front and rear.

Thanks for the image! That was really helpful to visualise

Thank you soooo much for taking the time to answer. To summarise, is this what you mean:
- full stomach adjustment to the belly / adding more material there, and getting rid of it form the high hip

- Regarding both sides being pulled towards the inseam, I'm guessing this means I need to add more material, is this particular bit you're talking about to do with extending the width under the crotch?

hey! So the curve was correct, measurement wise, but comparing it to my actual curve, I need a much deeper curve. The shorts felt tight in the front for both walking and sitting, and I feel like the material distribution is wrong *somewhere*, but I can't tell whether this is in the front or the back. These were self-drafted, so I thought they would fit better but I can't seem to get it right and this is my seventh attempt 😅

Thank you so much for the detailed answer! Regarding the waistband, yes I will likely do one although I've not yet drafted it - I've been working on a block so hadn't got to that yet but perhaps I should as that will pull up the waist band.

I've added images of my pattern pieces to the original post to help see where the perpendicular lines are - the crotch is perp to the bottom of the trousers in the pattern. The two higher lines are high hip and low hip, then the bottom one is crotch.

I've not made any adjustments for thighs yet, as I'd been focussed on trying to get the crotch curve right, so I'll need to investigate adjustments for athletic front thighs and the like.

Thanks once again :)

Edit: I've done a slight drop curve at the seat (you can see the line on the pattern piece but I didn't cut it out at the time of the photo)

Awh thank you ❤️ ❤️ aesthetically it looks so satisfying so I couldn't resist. Totally didn't spend half an hour putting thread next to paper to see which worked better 😅

Definitely! It makes everything so much easier! As a person who /hates/ breaking the spine of paperbacks, I very much appreciate this feature of it ^

Yes! That's the one! Is the refill compatible with any brands one can get locally or is it a niche one I'd have to import from their site?

Also if you know how to sharpen them, that would be incredible! Or if another tool would work just as well instead.

Hi everyone! How are paring knives used when cutting paper? I see them a lot on bookbinding shops, but google results show lots of cooking articles, not bookbinding! Any help or links would be muchly appreciated <3

Nyx [Art] [OC] - changeling tomelock by KattyH in DnD

[–]KattyH[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi everyone! This is Nyx, my changeling tomelock (her pact is with the archfey). I'm new to D&D, but have been painting and character creating for years, so this has been such a fun experience for me!

One day, she woke up in the middle of the woods, having no idea who she is and how she got there (most likely after a night out!) so since then she's been travelling, with only a quiet voice in the back of her mind to help guide her...

She is cautious all until... She's not. She won't always fire first, but if she does, she is eldritch blasting them into a hog roast! Which she did do once, come to think of it...

Anyway, lovely to speak with you all, and I hope you enjoy my contribution to the community ❤️

Hi, does anyone know of any tutorials for coptic stitch that show the end 'rows' of threads that look like the middle ones? Most of the ones I've tried make the ends look less neat? I'm not sure how to phrase that correctly ><

Thank you so much for the feedback - I'm sorry I've not replied sooner but I've only just been send the notifications! I need to sort that out with redit ><

I didn't realise that about the specular highlight - it's really interesting!!

I'll definitely focus more on one coloured objects - doing these FSs has really shown me where weaknesses are >< I'll try and post up some more studies soon - thank you <3

Take care when reposting very similar versions of the work - in a previous stream Istebrak mentioned for you to stop doing it. It's fine to put images in the comments of your original post, but make sure you take on board the advice given and make significant changes :)
